Since I moved to the US, I have been hesitant to put my feet in the water, because I’m used to 80/90 degree Ocean Water in Brazil. That also keeps me in my comfort zone and every time I contemplate the ocean, it’s a platonic relationship, I love you, but at a distance and I will not be leaving my comfort zone to embrace you. Lately I decided that I would only place my feet…
These past 4 weeks, I have totally left my comfort zone and embraced a journey of finding out who I am, what I’m capable of, leaving behind the fear of writing because people will criticize my mistakes or improper use of prepositions (which always confuses me …) even though I write in 4 languages. The need for new income sources at our household and new influences in my life fueled my writing/blogging passion and my pursuit to develop this as a business, which has until now been a dormant passion!
I started writing when I was 17. I wanted to be a book writer. I read all the classics, mostly Brazilian literature and acquired a taste for American literature after I moved here. Reading is my life! You will never see me without a book or three! Reading gives me new perspectives and possibilities that I would otherwise have missed. Reading FB statuses inspire me, reading people’s insights on business and marketing always empowers me to use that knowledge and set my feet more and more into the cold, uncomfortable waters.
I have been amazed by the positive difference it has brought to my blogs and my life. So much so, that I decided to celebrate and take it from a metaphor to literally placing not only my feet but my ankles in the water in the coming weekend – as a commitment and celebration to new steps in my business and personal journeys. If it worked for my feet, can you imagine my ankles?
I’m not saying it will be a pleasant experience. But I know for sure, experimenting will give me a new much wider angle and open more doors to new experiences in my life!
When was the last time you placed your feet in the water? Would love to hear about it! Are you ready to do it?
