Winter is here and tradition calls for first meal of the year or at least first week to include black eyed peas or lentils. So today I will share an easy and flavorful Ham & Black Eyed Peas Soup recipe you will love!
Ham & Black Eyed Peas Soup
1 1/2 cup of Black Eyed Peas
2 cups of diced ham or left over ham cut in small pieces
1/2 onion diced
1 small tomato diced
1 tbsp of garlic powder
1tbsp of onion powder
1 tsp of cayenne pepper
1 tsp of black pepper
1 tsp of cumin
1 tsp of (dried) basil leaves
Salt to taste
1 beef bouillon
Water to cover the ingredients
Time: 4 -6 hours on Crockpot
Add all ingredients to a crockpot, make sure the water covers the ingredients at least 2 inches above.
I don’t like a super brothy soup, so if you do, please add more water, than suggested.
Cook at high temperature for 4 hours or 6 on low or until your beans are cooked.
Super easy, right?
