The new year is here, for some, the new year resolutions have already melted into a pool of obstacles and disappointment. For me, the new year brought new possibilities and my stronger than ever mission to live a healthier life and inspire my family to do so as well!
So, I’m going to share my secret to keep those resolutions working for me:
- My goals are down to earth and believable, for example, I set a 10 pound weight loss goal and steps I needed to take to reach it.
- The number of resolutions are smaller than previous years, to allow me to fully focus on them
- The resolutions embrace a better and happier life which support my word for 2016 which is JOY!
So excited to motivate you to follow along with me and live healthier and better as well!
#1: Healthier Eating and Drinking Habits
I decided to remove beverages with high sugar and artificial ingredients, substituting them for beverages such as V8 Veggie Blends (I thought it was just “tomato juice”, but it’s much more than that). At Walmart, they offer these amazing flavors:
Carrot Mango
Mandarin Orange Kiwi
Healthy Greens
Golden Goodness
Purple Power
Each 8oz. serving is 60 calories or less with no sugar added and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. But, as any juice beverage, moderation is the key, see nutritional label for more and enjoy a cold, delicious glass full of sabor!
More information can be found at V8 Veggie Blends
At Walmart I have found the highest variety and so many choices! I can’t wait to try all the flavors!
My family loved when I brought it home as the beverage for our taco night! Mango brings that latin flavor to one of our favorite family meals! We make an extra shopping trip to Walmart and bought all the fresh ingredients to make that meal and others we had planned, healthier but full of flavor.
If you follow my social platforms, you know that I have an on going search to eat healthy, organic fruits and vegetables and keep my weight low in the process.
I’ve collected some new recipes, adapted some family favorites such as Taco Night, removing the carbs from the tortilla, adding the lettuce instead and the fat from sour cream and cheese, substituting it for fat free/low fat versions, keeping the flavor with no guilt!
#2 Fitness
I’ve hired a personal trainer to introduce me to a more structured routine and have more fun experimenting with new equipment and new ways to keep me fit!
My first session was with the TRX, which totally kicked my boredom to the curb, giving me that extra push to keep moving!
#3 Reading and Learning
I’ve updated my library with new business books to bring it to the next level and I revamped my office to offer me a special reading corner and a meditation place! I also added breaks in my schedule to read and check newly released publications!
It’s all about leaving room for no excuses!
#4
Volunteering
I made an effort to grow my business networking group, where we get together to learn with no fees, just sharing of knowledge and expertise! It’s great to meet all these people and see their business strength and determination to succeed. Over time, some of these businesses may branch out and add on to what they are building, so they may be in need of a 409a valuation cost estimate if they are planning on having people take shares out of their business down the road. Maybe one day we’ll discuss this further so there can be an open conversation, but for now, we are all where we want to be and the group is great to be a part of.
I may have learned about such groups a while back through a friend who was exploring different business peer groups for CEOs. It motivated me to create a community of people like me, who are influencers and love adventures in life.
I also want to find more time to run a book club with them!
It is important if you are a business or an entrepreneur, to use networking to the best of your ability so you can make connections that will hopefully help you with your career journey. Checking out what each social media platform can do for your business is a good first step to take, you’ll be able to see which one would be best for your vision as your network. You may also want to check out if there is any software that can be used during this time, like Instagram management, LinkedIn automation tools, Facebook planning, etc. so you are unifying your platforms and managing them to yield positive results.
#5 Me Time
I have been living such a busy hectic life, between work, trips, clients I manage. One of my most important resolutions is to schedule and not cancel “me time” and more family time as well!
More time for my mani/pedi, my hairdresser, lunch with friends, movies, and dinner with my family and things that I have been neglecting in the past year. I also want to focus on stress relief techniques to make me feel calmer every day! One of my friends uses cannabis and started reading articles through sites like do the pot so she could find the best way to gain her required stress relief. Seems like something I should keep in mind for the future.
If you are excited as I am to change some things in your life and some of my choices inspire you, let us know and share what resolutions you’ve decided to keep and if you tried the amazing V8 Veggie Blends.
Let us know what you think, as usual, give us a Trendy Shout!
Jessica Harlow
I really can relate to your 5 resolutions. 🙂 I love the more Me Time and volunteering ideas. Those two are both things that are going to be a priority for me in 2016 too.
Holly @ Woman Tribune
I really like that you set smaller goals than you have in previous years, so that you can really focus on them. That’s definitely a surefire way to make sure that you reach your goals.
Adrienne
Having me time is so important! Hopefully you are able to stick to that resolution because you deserve it!
Mimi
As simple as it seems I’m making a resolution to get my nails done bi weekly as just time to spend alone and keep myself together.
I am a fan of V8 blends, I have been for years. I love sweet juices and these are the best of both worlds.
Ashley Whipple
Those are some great goals to focus on this year. I’ve never tried V8 before. The mango carrot seems like one I would definitely want to try.
coolchillmom
Great resolutions to keep this year. I will be copying all of them for a better me. thanks for the inspiration
Bonnie @wemake7
Great resolutions. I made sure to keep my list short as well. So far so good.
Nicole Escat
Such a powerful resolution, it’s better to keep a few resolution than a lot.
Chantal
I really need to work on eating and drinking healthier! I love V8 but didn’t realize they had so many blends now!
Rebecca Swenor
The resolutions you choose are indeed amazing and truly believable. I really do believe that we need to set goals that are realistic to us. These are great tips on how to keep your resolutions. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Crystal
I didn’t set any new resolutions this year, but I’m working hard to keep up the old ones. I appreciate that you are making it realistic.
Heather S-G
I definitely believe in setting smaller, more reasonable goals. Going big feels like you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment. These all sound totally doable!
Terri Beavers
I think it’s great that you are sticking to your goals and that you made realistic ones. I really like V8® Veggie Blends and so does the grand kids. I feel like I’m doing my part to keep us all healthy when I buy them.
Jaclyn
Great resolutions – I too could use all 5 of these resolutions! Especially the fitness one! Best wishes for a fantastic 2016!
Jeanine
I would really love to have some more me time in 2016. I don’t get any at all right now and it’s so important. I also want to read more, I can’t seem to find the time anymore.
Erica S
Hey your resolutions are similar to mine! Except instead of sugary drinks, I resolved for less beer. 🙂 Good luck to you!
Stephen
I know you will keep all of them! S
OurFamilyWorld
My goal for this year is to take care of me eat healthier, exercise more and spend time for myself. I can’t get sick, so I really need to take care of myself.
Ann Bacciaglia
These are great resolutions to have. I am doing well so far keeping up with mine. I like to set small goals for myself.
Vicki F
Good for you! Our resolutions are strikingly similar. I am eating healthy and going to the gym. It’s be a looooong time since I’ve done that. It’s hard…but worth it! You go, girl!
Amber NElson
I need to start drinking some of the Veggie Blends. I know it would be so much better for me than soda.
Michele
No resolutions for this lady! I forget about the different flavors of V-8. Now that you have reminded me–I will be picking up some-probably the mandarin orange kiwi.
Jennifer Williams
Looks like you are off to a great start. I always save my carbs on taco night so I can have a soft taco – they have healthy options for those! I also use greek yogurt in place of the sour cream, takes a bit of getting used to but with some homemade salsa comes out pretty good. Good luck keeping all your resolutions.
Kayla
These are great goals and I love that you have steps for how you accomplish them. It makes it a lot less daunting. I wish you the best in 2016 and I hope you accomplish everything you set out to do.
Tori Gabriel
These are great resolutions. Even better, they are achievable. I see so many people set unrealistic goals and then they get frustrated when they fail to meet them.
Jaime Nicole
Reading and learning is definitely the best resolution I have seen so far! I love the attention to developing your mind and self! Great pick – please share what you learn.
Pam
Making accessible goals is the best way to keep your resolutions, I’ve found. I love that you have made a resolution to keep reading and learning.
Travel Blogger
Great goals! It is so important to make maintainable goals. This way you can incorporate them into daily life and really stick with it. Good luck to you in the new year!
Jeanette
You have read my mind! I’ve already started an resize program, and we are trying to learn about nutrition so we can eat healthier. I give myself a little bit of me time every afternoon before everybody gets home from school and work. And then once a month or maybe once every other month I take myself out to get my nails done for the fun of it.
Esther | The Cuteness
These are all great goals for 2016! Me time is so important, and continuous reading and learning is something I do every day. I read every single night before bed, it helps me wind down and gets my brain ready to sleep. I love it!
Jess Benoit
We love V* veggie juices! They taste so good. Your resolution list looks very do-able and hiring a personal trainer will make it much harder to quit. Me time is so important, I’m glad you added that in. It’s something most people do not do …but should!
Alli
Good for you to stick with your resolutions. I love V-8 beverages and thanks for reminding me that I should have had a V-8. I’ll add them to my grocery list.
Jessica
Normally I set up goals for myself for the new year and didn’t really do that this year. I guess one is to travel more and I have really been working at setting up travel plans and researching everything.
Good luck with your goals.
Rosey
Down to earth, believable goals are very important. I keep mine realistic too. 🙂
Tiaras & Tantrums
You have some great goals this year. I hope you stick with them. I really want a personal trainer as well, but hubbie says no way – work out the old fashioned way.
Autumn @Mamachallenge
I love those V8 drinks! My kids even like them!
Tonya C
I haven’t tried the new V8 drinks yet. I bet I would like the carrot mango one. I could keep this resolution too!
Christina
Its so important to schedule “me time”. And any way to get a serving of veggies in is great! V8 is yummy. I like your reading nook, I need to make one of those in my office.
Janeane Davis
I like the idea of creating a special reading place in your office so you can relax and get the business reading you want done.
Rebecca Bryant
Wow you are really making those resolutions work for you. I like the one about drinking less sugar as it is so good for you and V8 is a great substitution.
Mama to 5 BLessings
These juices sound delicious and very healthy. I need to get these for my kids, my younger ones do not like veggies – this would be a great way to sneak it in!
Gloria @ Homemade & Yummy
If you make resolutions and keep them that is awesome. Most people don’t.
Lois Alter Mark
These are great resolutions. I need to really start eating better and exercising more.
Erin @ Stay At Home Yogi
I want to read more in 2016 too!
Robin Rue (@massholemommy)
