You know I don’t have little ones anymore but we met with my husband’s grandkids a few weeks ago and we had so much fun that, I want to share 5 things to do in Philly with kids.
5 Things To Do In Philly With Kids
Nothing better than playing while learning, right? As you know, kids learn best when having fun, especially young ones!
Tip #1 – Liberty Bell
I love American History and even though, I didn’t grow up here, I am always fascinated to visit Philly and check out all the highlights first hand.
Lines were short and we were able to easily navigate through the Liberty Bell exhibit with the kids with no problems!
It was great seeing information on Martin Luther King Jr and slaves, representing diversity in the exhibit and showing the kids how inclusive and beautiful some of our historical landmarks are.
They enjoyed looking at the pieces at the exhibit, but the Bell, oh the Bell! That was their most favorite stop!
What you should know:
The Liberty Bell is a part of the Independence Mall Complex and The National Parks pool of attractions and there’s no cost to attend.
You don’t need reservations to check out the Liberty Bell exhibit.
Keep in mind you will pass through a metal detector and will have to take off everything but your clothes and shoes to go through it, including the baby stroller, which had to be passed a couple times, before the green light was seen.
You can check out the website for hours and more information such as parking and public transportation.
Tip #2 Independence Hall
Independence Hall is a historic civic building in Philadelphia, where both the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted by America’s Founding Fathers. The structure forms the centerpiece of the Independence National Historical Park.
Tickets are required to tour the Independence Hall, you can find more info HERE.
Tip #3 Congress Hall
The guided tour inside the Congress Hall Building runs every hour and is kid friendly. The boys truly enjoyed sitting where the representatives sat and declared and signed the declaration of independence.
The guide told us that even though that furniture was not the real furniture used by them, it was a great way to picture that amazing moment in our country!
That building was also the first capital building until it was moved.
Tour was free, but space and times were limited. Find more info HERE.
Tip #4: Parks between Attractions
The parks and beautiful areas are a perfect place for kids to walk, play and enjoy time outdoors!
Tip #5 Stop at the Visitor’s Center
Kids will love the light snack options, souvenir shop, restrooms and more!
My stepson lives in Philly and had never brought the kids to visit the area!
The boys loved it!
When we went, there was a special exhibit there about women voting. I loved hearing the history about women fighting for the right to vote in the US!
Kids enjoyed a snack before exploring the area!
Wether you live in Philly or not, I hope you save this list, next time you bring the kids to explore the city!

A few last thoughts:
Look for parking ahead of time, as some of the nearby garages get full early on!
Check out the weather, because there’s a lot of walking involved, so you don’t want to go there when it rains with kids.
If you want something more typical to eat, I recommend saving your meal to try out one of the local cheesesteak places like Tony Luke’s or Ginos! They are not near, but definitely worth visiting and they have kids meals!

I can’t wait to hear what you think!
