If you follow me in my social channels, you know my son has always been a big boy! He was 5′ by the age of 7! (I know!!)
After he turned 11, his twin bed no longer fit him and his feet were literally out of the bed this year! We went to a hotel and he commented on how nice it was to sleep in a bed that fit him!
His comment really motivated me to give him a bedroom makeover, which I’m sharing with you today!
I started looking for styles and asked for his input on every piece we planned to purchase! I started looking for styles and asked for his input on every piece we planned to purchase! He had some ideas about getting something similar to the Niche Canvas contemporary bedroom art that can match his wall colour. My goal was to keep the dark blue, gray color scheme to contrast with the walls and because blue is one of his favorite colors! I started looking for furniture options that would be great for him. There were a few options we found here, but he wanted something a little different for his room.
I’ve also decided to move his bedroom to his game room! His life is more on the computer than really playing games and the bed placed in that room would offer a comfortable spot for game time anyway! My goal is to purchase a small game chair later.

Teen Room Makeover
Cherry Queen Bed
We bought him a new Queen Cherry Bed, which is beautiful, masculine and very comfortable!

We also bought a soft queen bed sheet set to fit the new bed!
Bed Comforter
A bed comforter, matching his new bedroom colors!
Mattress
We also bought a Queen Mattress Set! It can be hard finding the right mattress for just about anybody, so it is important to check out the various ones that are available. Whether that be taking a look at Winstons Beds Luxury Mattresses or popping into your local mattress store, you want to keep that mattress going for a while so something cheap will definitely not cut it.
Curtains
We bought blue curtains! They almost look gray!
My son now has his games, large TV and bed all in one room! We switched his bedroom to his game room! He loves playing on his bed anyway!
I asked him about wall art, maybe a Minecraft poster, but he said he would rather have plain walls for now and that’s what he has! I had also checked if there’s any need for an air conditioner (for the installation process, check with firms like Alaskan Air Conditioning & Heating) in his room as of now but he said it’s fine.
It was so amazing looking at the smile on his face when he told me how happy he was with his new bed/bedroom! It just put a smile on my face, since I had no idea his old bed was bothering him that much!
Needless to say my baby is no longer a baby! He’s now 6’4″ at 13, but this bed will probably follow him to college or stay for when he comes back to visit us!!!

I love our AT Home store. It’s funny- I just changed my toddler’s room into a “big boy” version. They always need a room makeover as they get older.

We are in the planning stages to do two teenage bedrooms. Both have such different styles. It is fun to see them design it.
