We had never been apple picking as a family, so I was extremely excited to be invited by Drive the District to enjoy a typical fall day in upstate New York! We were greeted by the sweet aroma of freshly made warm cider donuts at the Wilkins Farm! The Coffee freshly brewed woke my senses up to admire that beautiful fall morning. The leaves which had fallen, gently offering us different tonalities of green, orange and light red, very different than what we left in New Jersey! The trip allowed us to enjoy that new fall season feeling I had not experienced until we drove there! Besides that, nothing screams fall more than cider donuts!
We went to pick the apples and there was a huge variety which left us with no choice but to take some from each of the trees! My son was excited to do it on his own and my husband, the nature expert, was explaining the types of apples as we moved to different parts of the farm. I was also excited to be able to choose my own apples, since they are my favorite fruit! We came home with a huge amount of sweet fragrant apples!
After the apple picking and more delicious cider donuts we packed our ride, the new 2014 Chevy Sonic Hatchback to go to our next Destination Food event! But I will leave you curious about our next adventure!
