Do you know there are 10 million hungry children; nearly half of eligible children do not receive free or reduced price school breakfast and that 3 out of 5 K-8 public school teachers report regularly seeing students coming to school hungry? It’s a heartbreaking reality!
The“Hunger Is” campaign from September 1st through September 30th, 2016 has been established to help childhood hunger efforts in America. This program is designed to bring awareness and funds to improve healthy outcomes for hungry children and their families; specifically focusing on expanding breakfast programs.
But now you can help by joining me through Hunger Is, by purchasing participating brands/products from ACME stores or your local ACME if you don’t live in my area!
It’s so easy:
- Purchase participating items (THAT HAVE THE DISCLAIMER – *purchase of this item in September 2016 will trigger at least $0.10 donation up to $1 million) – Look for tags on participating items in store
- Donate at the register – shoppers can add a $1, $3, or $5, or any $ amount to their purchase. All you need to do is shop for items which are probably already in your basket, which can help raise funds towards this cause – for every unit sold in September 2016, $0.10 goes back to their local market, up to $1M nationally!
- The stores are committed to this cause in every region. Every donation will be donated back to the local market through their 501(c )3 Foundation.
Here is how we helped:
We shopped:
So excited to share that my local ACME in Turnersville, NJ is participating in the Hunger Is campaign! Check them out and help fight childhood hunger! We shopped for some of the items on the list of participating brands and donated at the end:
Who doesn’t like pumpkin spice oatmeal???
We are huge oatmeal fans, so we stocked up, after all, fall is right around the corner!
I use soups on casseroles and other dishes! It is my cold night dinner when we’re too busy to cook or when we need the comfort that a warm bowl of soup brings!
You know I’m a coffee lover, Peets is one of my favorite brands!
My son eats Nutella with just about anything! That is always on my grocery list!
And we donated!
Do you see how easy it was for me to just pick up items I already buy and donate at the end?
Join me and millions in September to help fight childhood hunger with the Hunger Is campaign!
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Albertsons Companies & Hunger Is. The opinions and text are all mine.

The statistics of hungry children around the world is really painful and everyone of us have to step in to do something to help them in need. The“Hunger Is” campaign sounds really amazing as it could bring awareness among people to do something on their part to help such great cause!

It makes me sad that people are still going to bed hungry and they shouldn’t have to. Well done you for supporting a great initiative to end world hunger.
Rosey
Wouldn’t it be nice to end childhood hunger. It’s traumatic that it even exists considering how much food always goes to waste.
Janis @MommyBlogExpert
No child should have to go to school or to bed at night hungry. So glad to know a brand that I buy regularly feels the same way — what an awesome campaign.
Amy
That pumpkin spice oatmeal sounds so good! I love that I can give back by purchasing it.
Jenn Gerlach
We love collecting fun great deals to donate to our local pantry. Before we had young kids we would help with processing at the food bank. I love these campaigns where companies give back.

I hate it when hundred and thousands of people starve while other just splurge. I hope there be more companies that will have social corporate responsibility programs ready to address this kind of issue.
Stefani Tolson
The thought of any child going hungry is sad. Love how these big companies are trying to help end childhood hunger.

Definitely time to take care of our own. The other countries have become reliant upon us, but it’s time they put some of the teachings we have given them to use and become less reliant on us.
Stacey Loring
It’s about time we’re feeding our own and not 3rd world countries. I understand they need food too, but I’m so sick and tired of everyone worrying about others and forsaking our own children. Yeah to Quaker! I’m in on this one!!!!! I work in a Drs. office and 95% of our patients are under insured and indigent. Sometimes if we can just accept a $1 from them for their visit we will. We also have a fund that’s made up by donations to pay for specialists visits so they can get the medical treatment they need, since we’re just family practice and pediatrics. I think it’s wonderful that we can help those in need, and not send all of our funds overseas.
Heather @ Kraus House Mom
Whenever my kids hear about a campaign about feeding the hungry, they insist on buy the food that has the logo on it.
