If you know me, you know I’ve been suffering from allergies since the age of 3! You also know how much I enjoy exploring the trails and creeks near my home as well as enjoying the flowers blooming in my yard. After all, what’s not to like about spring? The perfect time to get your air conditioning fine tuned for the incoming summer and take out your breezy dresses, if you ask me!
Well, my allergies bring a love/hate relationship with the season as the allergy symptoms keep haunting me, trying to prevent me from enjoying the gorgeous weather and spending family time outside!
All the years suffering from allergies have taught me that it’s all about finding ways of relieving symptoms with the right medication that you can get from your doctor or through an online pharmacy UK service, for example, as well as taking the right steps to enjoy each season!
So today, I will share five ways you can enjoy your spring, starting today!
5 Ways To Enjoy your spring even when you have allergies.
Chose the right medication
This is my most important tip! I use Claritin because it relieves my allergy symptoms, which helps me move on with my normal tasks.
I also bring it on all my trips to use if my symptoms strike, since allergens appearing in hotel rooms and new environments are a huge issue for me! Any change of environment can bring on a 10-minute sneezing fit and leave my eyes and nose streaming for hours, so any relief is welcome.
Claritin is also the #1 doctor-recommended non-drowsy oral allergy brand! You can’t go wrong with that!

Hands Off Your Face
I learned early on that a great way to help me enjoy the outdoors and my pets is not to put my hands on my eyes, nose or mouth, because when I do that, I immediately bring allergens in closer contact with my body and you don’t want that, right? However, I know that it’s not always possible to keep your hands away from itchy eyes or a runny nose, which leads me onto…
Wash Your Hands, Face and Hair
For me, who suffers from nasal congestion, washing my hands and face regularly prevents and helps remove allergens brought inside after a run or long walk outside! I also do it after I pet my dogs!! Clean hands mean that you can touch your face more often, whilst splashing your face with cool water can help reduce inflammation and open up your sinuses. Hair can also trap pollen and release it right next to your face, so rinse it with cool water whenever you can.
Keep it out
By that I mean avoid bringing pollen and things which trigger your allergies indoors. Remove outer layers of clothes before stepping inside and put them straight in the wash for a rinse. Keep your windows closed, even if it’s hot, to keep pollen out. Pollen can cling to curtains and bedding as it comes in through the window, which will only lead to misery whilst you’re trying to sleep. If you must have the windows open, wash your curtains and bedding and vacuum your carpets and sofa to remove the pollen.
Filtered Air
I also invested in a great air purifier that utilizes naturally scented organic oils. Actually, I got this idea from a friend of mine who suffered from allergies like me. She once told me that she was thinking to buy a medical grade air purifier that contains a HEPA filter to capture and kill airborne viruses and bacteria. That is when I thought that I too should invest my money in air purifiers. My purifier filters the indoor air and leaves an amazing scent. We leave it on all year long! But make sure you follow the use instructions of your device. If you have air-con, make sure to keep the filter clean. A clogged air-con is one of the worst offenders for spreading pollen and spores around the home, so make sure you hire a cleaner like Texan Cleaners at the start of the season to ensure your filters are clean – learn more about them here. If you don’t keep your filters clean, all of your other efforts will have been for nothing!
I just started running as one of my health goals for 2017, so I refuse to let my allergies prevent me from enjoying my life and the things I love! With these tips, you should also be able to enjoy a happy and healthy spring, just like everyone else, without the constant battle against allergies!

I LOVE my air purifier, mine is from Febreze and has these great scent cartridges that fill the room with scent in addition to doing a great job reducing allergens and pollutants in the air it fills the room with scent, and since my neighbors have gross habits whose smells filter into my apartment I couldn’t survive without an air purifier. Claritin is a great brand and it is the one I use to treat allergy symptoms as well.

Great tips! I have awful allergies – not helped by living in the UK countryside! I learned that mixing up your meds (I.e use one brand one day, and another the next) helps prevent your body from getting used to one particular blend – I actually got mildly immune to Claritin until I took a break from using it! After adding a couple of different makes to my bag, I seem to be able to keep symptoms fairly at bay. Great advice though!!!
Carol Cassara

I never suffered from allergies until I moved to Virginia. So until I went to the doctor I never knew why I stayed so stopped up all the time. I have never used Claritin before but do take an allergy pill. It works the majority of the time. I will give this a try and see if it works better. Great tips by the way. Washing your hands and keeping them away from the face are the most important!

I love Claritin, I take it daily along with other allergy medications. It’s awesome! I agree 100% on the don’t bring the pollen/allergens indoors. We have a strict policy when you’ve been outside, you shower when you come inside and your clothes go in a special hamper by the front door that has a lid on it. The clothes stay there until laundry day so the pollen doesn’t get spread all over the house. It has helped my allergies tremendously.
Jen Temcio
Oh my goodness! It seems like everywhere I go people are sneezing like crazy from allergies. If they would just take Claritin they could be done with it and not freak people like me out with their sneezing germs in public!
