I received the Ford Maverick for review purposes, but as usual, thoughts on Hybrid Life With Ford Maverick and all opinions are my own.
When we sold our truck, we wondered how we were going to brave into some more challenging hikes, complete our cosmetic projects at our home and an even more pressing question – how were we going to complete our garden project? We were so excited when Ford provided the experience of a Hybrid Life With Ford Maverick.
Hybrid Life With Ford Maverick
We miss our truck so much, but we have decided not to purchase another large truck, which limits places we use it and just the two of us means no need for a lot of space in a vehicle.
That is why the Ford Maverick is the perfect choice for city, environmentally conscious, active & busy DIYers like us!
Here’s what we love about the Ford Maverick Hybrid:
Fuel Efficiency
We averaged 45-46 miles per gallon HWY/ 56 miles/City, we drove it for 7 days, including multiple trips to our gardening store and a 200 mile trip to go hiking.
Powerful Engine
With great pick up and acceleration
Interior Room
A lot of room in the back seats. Hubby is 6’2 and rarely fits in vehicles with the front seat pushed to the back and he did on the Ford Maverick! He was very happy about that!
Storage under the rear seats
Exterior
Love the front grille, the big truck vibe, which fits in most tight city parking spaces! It’s great to have the best of both worlds!
Also love the color and overall look!
Cargo
Truck Bed was perfect for city life and house/gardening projects.
We used the Ford Maverick Hybrid to start and complete our vegetable & flower garden!
It had the perfect space for our gardening project with room to spare!
Here are some tips, if you want to start your garden:
If you’ve never had a garden before, I recommend you start small, buy strong plants from a local gardening center, buy only plants you have time to manage.
Watering and taking care of the plants requires time.
You can check out my tips on how to plant a small garden when you don’t have space HERE.
If you have done it and you’re ready for the next step, I recommend starting some plants from seeds and getting more than you need in case some do not survive.
How to start your garden from seeds indoors (for beginners), click HERE.
Today I’m sharing the next step, when your last frost is done and you’re ready to bring plants outdoors.
- Make sure you check the weather and that you will not be getting nights under 50F.
- Buy soil with fertilizer to prepare your gardening area/gardening beds
- Use a weed barrier, I use netting + landscape fabric to keep the weeds away, but just make sure your plants have room to grow roots deep enough.
- Start planting with plants which like cold weather, like lettuce, leafy greens, carrots, onions, strawberries. Leave tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and herbs for mid May, depending on the area you live in.
- Gardening groups and experienced gardeners are a great source of help for beginners.
- After planting, water the garden generously. We have a hose system that automatically turns water on.
- We also add a layer of netting on the side and top to protect the garden from bunnies and other animals.
Here are some items you will need:
Gardening Soil
Shovel
Netting
Gardening poles
Landscape Fabric
Gardening beds
We also took the Ford Maverick Hiking! It’s great having a truck to support our active lifestyle!
Doing Good With The Ford Maverick
I used the truck to bring supplies & food to help host a luncheon at my church.
Loved having a truck to help me do good!
Sharing The Ford Maverick With Friends
Dear friends are looking for a smaller fuel efficient truck, so we took the Maverick there to show it to them!
Their Lab approved it!
They fell in love with it! It meets their needs and fits their active lifestyle! They will be looking to purchase one in the fall when it becomes available!
I love when our rides help friends see vehicles up close to make an informed decision!
Hiking With The Maverick Hybrid
We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Bushkill Falls in PA! Bonus points for Hybrid Life with the Maverick and its fuel efficiency, which allowed us to take the 200 mile round trip in less than ¼ of a tank.

We really loved the leg room in the back seat, which is usually compromised in small trucks, giving the Maverick those extra points for small families who might consider it.
A few other things we loved about the Maverick:
Tech
Apple Car Play made the connection seamless and gave me all the functionality.
Also love all the tech ports.
A few minor things you should know:
- It has no touch button to start you need to use the key.
- No adaptive cruise control
The Ford Maverick we drove was a prototype, so pricing and final fuel efficiency specs are still to be determined, but we can share the pricing we received as $28,895.00 MSRP.
The Ford Maverick Hybrid is the perfect pickup truck if you’re active and starting a family; or if you need a great vehicle which combines maneuverability for city driving and room for weekend adventures with great fuel efficiency.
Save for later:
Can’t wait to hear what you think about my Hybrid Life With Ford Maverick!

I knew very little about the Ford Maverick until I read this post. Ford needs to advertise this more, as it seems it has much to offer. And it’s tough to beat those gas mileage numbers!
