It all started with an email entitled:
I immediately accepted the invitation, which was an honor as a Latina Blogger. But I must confess I had no idea how magical this experience would be and how many emotions it would stir and just how much it would touch my family and I, bringing out the inner child in all of us!
The experience reminded me of why and when I decided to live in the U.S., which I had forgotten – memories that were buried in my busy adult life, came back to life making the experience even more magical!
When I was 12, I asked my parents to go on my class trip to the U.S., we were going to spend 12 days in Florida and NYC. I went on my own, rooming with other girls in my class. After my first day in the Magic Kingdom, I heard all the employees complimenting my English and my accent and I helped several people on my trip to purchase things and ask questions. I then decided, that’s what I wanted to do, I wanted to work with foreign languages!
After my Disney visit, I thought, everybody is so nice and happy there, one day I will come and live in that country! Disney said once : “All Your Dreams Can Come True, if you have the courage to pursue them!”
Magic Kingdom was my first experience of the American Culture and it marked my heart in such a way that I returned 11 times after that! I know…. I am a Disney lover!
I told you I forgot that memory because after dating my husband (then boyfriend) for 2 years, I was going to tell him I wanted to break up because I had no intention of moving to the U.S.. My life was settled, my family was in Brazil, I had a stable life so starting all over again was not in my plans. But God planned otherwise and I moved here in 2001 and that memory, the memory of that magical first encounter with those nice, happy, helpful people who were the first Americans I’d met and who made me fall in love with this country, faded, but surfaced again during this trip!
I shared my memories with my son and husband before we were boarding the “It’s a Small World” boat ride and I shared that the ride was such a great idea to incorporate so many languages and traditions in one place! It has always been my favorite!
Some Brazilians don’t move past Florida and Disney is the only part of the US they will ever see, it sounds pretty good to me! They leave with the amazing experience, having met and seen a magical place, a place where dreams come true!
I am inviting you to follow my journey, my 13th Trip to Disney Parks, the most magical of them all! Because you know, “it’s a small world after all”….
Do you love Disney Parks as much as I do? Give us a Trendy Shout, can’t wait to hear from you!
