As a parent of a child in high school, I am extremely excited to introduce you to Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s Let’s Play initiative, which provides kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority. That’s such a great initiative to help the current generation to get moving!
You know, it needs to start at home: my son loves basketball, so we hired a private coach to help develop his skills and keep him active in the summer!
We also bought nets for our town basketball court, to help local kids to utilize it more often!
I love that this is amplified by the Let’s Play High School Makeover Challenge, which will award one lucky school with $100,000 in brand-new athletic equipment. Student-athletes from all over the country submitted videos explaining what sports means to their school to enter the contest.
The top 20 submissions have been selected, and one is right here in Philly, The Northeast High School, so I want to encourage you to vote to determine the top 10 finalists.
The voting period runs from September 8-17, 2017 that will result in a top 10. Voting is open to the public and your votes will help determine the top 10 schools in the running to receive the equipment makeover. Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Good Sports will select the winning high school, which will receive $100,000 in new athletic equipment. Amazing, isn’t it?

What a cool contest. I was lucky when I was in High School. I opened my school and was the first graduating class so literally everything was brand spankin new.
I love that this is happening! It’s disheartening to see so many schools go without funding, I’m so happy people are stepping up to help.
Awesome initiative. Our school is lucky to have good equipment for sports and an alum donated a really nice auditorium for the band, seeing companies level the playing field is good.

After my younger daughter graduated from college she worked in the office of Dr. Pepper Snapple. She loved how community oriented they are. I hope your son’s high school is the winner of $100,000 in athletic equipment. I have my fingers crossed for you and all of the kids. 🙂
This is such a cool initiative by Dr Pepper for a good cause. There are so many schools that need sport equipments so I think this makeover challenge is amazing.

That is great, my kid’s school could have used an athletic makeover! Some districts have far more money than others!
Love this idea! I have always been a strong supporter of physical activities during the school day. Kids are much more likely to learn more when there bodies are “activated” during play! Not to mention the health benefits!

Wow, that is a life changing amount of equipment for a school. So cool! PE is so important so it’s nice to have good equipment.

I worked with this initiative here in NJ to help local schools get new playground equipment. I so believe in the power of play and getting kids active, no matter their age!

I think what they are doing is great! School cannot always afford new equipments and it’s not fair to kids to be playing with old stuff when others before them had new things
I was very lucky when I went to high school that it was brand new, so all of our equipment was new and nice. The highschool that my daughter went to in 9th grade where we live now, was also the same high school that my dad attended. It was in desperate need of help.
What an absolutely amazing thing for them to be doing, it is always good to be able to find ways to support your local school.

I LOVE this! Our kids’ school has a thriving sports team, but they really need to upgrade their equipment. Unfortunately, they don’t have the funds.
Sports are important to the growth and development of children. If they aren’t into sports, they should at least be active and play outside.

This is Maisie! There are schools out there that need so much of duty and just don’t have the money to do it. Something like this is absolutely perfect.
