I was invited to attend the Hyundai Elantra 2017 launch in San Diego, but all opinions are my own.
Picture this: we were greeted at the gorgeous Imperial Beach, serving as backdrop for the launch of the #NewElantra!
Later on, Great Time and Food Trucks – best San Diego Style! I needed to share the fire truck pizza oven with you!
Bed time started with the attention to details even shown on our hotel room doors, with the Elantra etched on the glass.
Bringing that complete experience feeling, unveiled next day when Jim Trainor presented a general overview of the market and how they are positioned comparing with other brands.
We heard all about the Elantra Big Game Explosion!
This was my favorite one, I guess you know why:
We had a sales overview, which highlighted that 34% sales are loyalty.
Brandon Ramirez shared design changes and innovations, comparing it to other brands:
Here are my favorite highlights:
The Clarify system:
Seats with organic foam and special structure to optimize the noise reduction, which was a huge feature in my opinion:
Body safety and structural adhesive difference which maintains structural integrity after crash and keeps out dust, also offering less corrosion :
We were invited by Brandon Ramirez to a walk through and here are my highlights on the new design features:
- The new front design, bolder lines and headlights
- The 16″ alloy wheels
- Door handle lighting
- The key advantage which detects it, to open the trunk
- Spacious interior that has the same interior room of a Cadillac CTS
- We did 33 miles per gallon during our trip
- Motor has good torque and horse power is just right
- It responds well and powers out of turns nicely
The mountains of San Diego and a challenging course offered the perfect opportunity to test the lane change assist adjustable features, standard with blind-spot detection and the automatic emergency breaking system. The horsepower and how it would handle the exciting curves and the different modes it offers!
Here are some features which made this Latina very happy:
The interior room made our ride extremely comfortable, I was so surprised, being 5’7″ with how much leg room it had! I would never have to bring flats for a long ride, I could sport my high heels, since there was so much extra room to relax my feet!
All the room in the front seats also made me so happy since I have to fight in my own car to put on makeup when my husband drives me to events. All the room would also allow me to bring a portable tray and a suction mirror for that perfect on the go, trendy glam look!
Apple play and ClariFi technology which made an old low quality recording from Brazil, sound amazing! All the technology available often only offered in more expensive vehicles was definitely a great selling point for me, a tech and music fanatic!
This shot awarded me the winner of the ClariFi photo Contest at the event!
The driver correction, standard with blind spot detection, lane change assist adjustable and hands off alarm really impressed me, we actually tested it on the road, it really brought the car back to where it should be, avoiding any risk! Amazing response!
Also loved the key advantage, which detects the key and opens the trunk, great for my super busy shopping trips and all the shoes I bring home!!!
My co-driver Savage Geese actually felt the car working on correcting us and we both heard the alert – making this feature my absolute favorite, especially because you can control how intrusive the level of response is.
The Trendy in me would like to have seen more changes in the interior as well, the trim, plastic and black overall look could have used an upgrade as well!
I was overall really impressed with the new design, the headlights and all improvements brought to the 2017 models are very impressive! Here is a quick walk through video to give you a glimpse of the #NewElantra:
Price starts at $ 17, 150. For more information and how to get yours: http://www.hyundai/elantra

We had an Elantra about five years ago, brand new with only 5 miles. We loved it, it did not even have many bells and whistles.
Bri
I really like the overall design of the new Elantra because it looks sporty, but can still be used as an family car. Not having to manually open up the trunk is a great plus.
