Continuing our 12 days of desserts series, today we are sharing Olho de Sogra (Mother in Law’s Eye). Not sure why the name, 🙂 but it’s basically a coconut truffle, the white brigadier base with coconut and dry plum as the “shell”. The taste is completely unique, you need to try it!
Ingredients:
2 cans of condensed milk
4 tbsp of butter (softened)
2 tbsp of shredded coconut
1 package of dried plums
Preparation:
Step 1
Place condensed milk and butter in a pot in low heat and vigorously stir until it will not stick to the pot anymore, boiling.
Step 2
Mix vigorously until it is not runny, but thicker, about 20min. When it’s fully cooked, add coconut and mix it.
Step 3
Spread butter on a dish and place mixture to cool it off on it
Step 4
Take a tsp of the mixture and place it inside the plum. Some Packages come pre-sliced in the center, if not, cut a 1 inch slice in the center of the dried plum.
So easy, you won’t believe it!
When I’m in a hurry and want to have it done quickly for our guests, I use the beijinho brand can found in Brazilian supermarkets. The content of the can is placed inside the plum, instead of the homemade version.
Here is the final result! I made them last Christmas and they were a hit!
Hope you’ve enjoyed our third dessert! Can’t wait to share another one with you tomorrow!
As usual, give us a Trendy Shout!
