I was invited to attend the 2019 Hyundai Veloster Launch in Austin, but all opinions are my own.
I landed in Austin, honestly not sure what to expect. I’ve stopped many times in Texas, but the airport or overnight hotel summarizes my Texas experience!
Local friendly people helped me in the airplane, even friendlier hotel staff helped my usual selfie pictures become a: “let me take your picture, I’m a local photographer,” kind of experience!
Austin is known for being a center of music, lively night life and the place where people are proud to be weird!
Yes, #AustinWeird! When I arrived, there was a table in the lobby of our hotel with bags and products with the Keep Austin Weird sign! I knew I was in for a treat!
So music, barbecue and a sporty, fun ride was about to happen!
Our Hotel – Van Zandt, a perfect blend of modern comfort with Texan hospitality, set in the heart of a lively night life and food truck heaven, set the stage for a ready to rock launch!
We started our program with a 2019 All New Veloster introduction by the Hyundai Team:
Mike O’Brien – VP Product, Corporate, Digital Planning
Mike Evanoff – Manager Product Planning Small Cars
They highlighted the segment and new features we were about to test! We spent our time in the Turbo Realm and tried out both transmissions.
As you know, fewer people know how to drive manual shift vehicles nowadays. Those who still enjoy it will enjoy everything about the Veloster!
We headed out for a ride and drive, testing the new bold design, turbo engine and upgrades added to the 2019 Veloster:
Our first stop – after highway and curves driving time. A gorgeous Marina restaurant by the water! Offering this breathtaking view:
Such a gorgeous day and location! Perfect stop before our next adventure:
Lunch at the County Line Barbecue facing an unforgettable view of hundreds of turtles moving, as if they were trying to reach us!
Time to treat yourself to a manual Veloster!
Let’s do this! Couldn’t wait to hear the turbo roar and drive the manual back! Sporty hatchbacks often come with clutches that spare you from needing a workout and shifters that challenge you!
The Veloster offers a light clutch and short shifter that takes little effort. Making the Veloster is an excellent choice if you’re a new adapter to manual transmission.
I personally had to sit close to the steering wheel to use the clutch, a little unusual for me, but loved that it gave me that race car feeling!!!
A true sporty and responsive feeling! Any car that matches my outfit is a winner in my Trendy Book! After all, driving a car which matches your outfit is a feature you can’t ignore!
Love the yellow accents on this trim:
I love how the design incorporated the yellow and added accents to make this interior, one of my favorites in a sports car!
Love the 8” Navigation system AVN 5.0 AM/FM/HD/SiriusXM with High Res Touchscreen, a nice addition for all tech lovers like me!
It offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. S Active Engine Sound – Smartphone/MP3 auxiliary input jacks S Dual USB Charger S Wireless Charging Pad -Blue Link® (Gen 2) Connected Services: 3-years Standard including Blue Link – inside rearview mirror.
The Veloster has a suspension system that offers the perfect combo of sporty and comfortable without moving forward in either direction.
The two versions of the Veloster totally delivered their promises and offered action packed vehicles you will love as much as I did!
We had a total Turbo experience switching between drive modes! I loved hearing the engine rumbling, though! Giving me that race car, fast and furious rush!
I really enjoyed driving the Austin Hills with the Veloster, which not only delivered a fun and dynamic performance but also lived up to my expectation to have that turbo engine experience and the roar I was hearing reflected the power the car was delivering!
Absolutely thrilling!
Need to add that the Michelin Tires and wheels gave an added bonus to my driving experience!
The faster roofline and extended trim gave the Veloster a trendy and beautiful design, which made my Latin Heart beat faster!
They are winning choices in my opinion! It’s great to see that they made these changes without compromising the interior space. I was actually very comfortable in both driver and passenger sides.
Can’t wait to hear what you think of my 2019 Hyundai Veloster Drive in Austin!
As usual, give us a Trendy Shout!

That is an awesome looking car! I miss driving a stick shift. Before kids i always insisted on driving a manual car. But now I have been choosing cars with more convenience and luxury features as well as a larger size (SUV) which usually doesn’t come in a manual transmission.
I love that this car has a turbo engine in it too! I’d be curious to know what the price point is on the car.

Those yellow accents on the interior are really nice! Looks like you had a fantastic day driving around Austin and visiting some of the “must see” places.

My daughter just got her drivers license and I am pretty sure this would be her dream car. I love how sleek it is and that interior is just so gorgeous
