I am a huge fan of Ghost Adventures and The Haunting Series on TV, so Halloween is a time when we get to see a little bit of that magic everywhere.
People often get their homes decked up during Halloween. To be honest, the preparations start quite early because, for some, Halloween is a chance to renovate their house. From making their dwellings spotless to applying a fresh coat of paint to the walls (perhaps with the help of firms like Contrast Painting- they are considered to be reputed painters perth), some homeowners leave no scope to be in sync with the latest trends of Halloween. However, the most common kind of décor that a house sees during this time is the use of spooky lights. But this is not just it! Some even go to the extent of opting for new furnishings as well! Well, why not! If Halloween is here, Christmas and Thanksgiving are just a few days away as well. I have seen many friends of mine who buy furniture as well – like a Footstool And Table Combo, or those comfy recliners that come with cushions. Let us not stray from the topic at hand though!
Of course, the day is traditionally a Christian/Pagan festival and has evolved over the centuries since it first emerged in western Europe. It’s a day to pray for all of those lost souls in Hell (hence the theme of death and horror that we see today) and was modernised during the Gothic Revival during the 1800’s. Ghosts and ghouls became symbols of the holiday, representing those souls that are lost here on Earth. Modern Halloween decor reflects this, with many choosing to decorate their homes with antique gothic pieces from somewhere like william walter antiques. Now you know why candles and candelabras are so prevalent around this time of year in people’s homes!
The use of pumpkins has only really arisen due to the day’s proximity to Harvest Festival, with pumpkins being in season at this time of year. So, when you see a jack-o-lantern lighting up a window, it’s celebrating two festivals in one!
I was driving down my neighborhood and saw great spooky home decor, the towns near mine in Jersey were filled with haunted, gloomy, amazing displays and I couldn’t just pass them without sharing them with you! See if you can spot those ghosts and ghouls!
So I decided to share some of my favorites! I will let the pictures talk for themselves! Hope you enjoy the Trendy haunted homes as much as I did!
Super spooky! Looks like these guys painted their porch with a coat of flourescent paint that reacts to those lights. Don’t think I’d ever try it, at least not without having to hire someone from https://www.myhousepainter.com/ to come the day after to paint everything back to normal.
Feels a little Christmassy with this one. Jack Skellington probably lives here.
No doubt people walking or driving this house might do a double take. What can I say but yikes.
Now THIS is a house that really feels spooky. I bet a few trick or treaters have to dare each other to approch this house!
A little basic, but the pumpkins are cute!
Actually I take that last comment back. THIS is a cute pumpkin!
Have you decorated your home for Halloween? I can’t wait to hear which Trendy Spooky Home is your favorite? Give us a Trendy Shout!

Love how people go all out to celebrate a holiday. It definitely creates excitement in the area.

Very creative yard decorations! I hide out and binge watch horror movies, it gets too dangerous around here at night on Halloween Night, so I avoid the chaos and stay indoors!

I have never seen Halloween lights in person, only on the internet. I wish I was that creative and had the time to do something like this!

I love the third one down–the one with a ghost standing at an upstairs window!! That would make me go run for cover for certain!!

If I had the budget, I would also go out with my decorations. These are great houses.

Excellent spooky Halloween yards! Fun photos and no since my son moved out, we don’t decorate for this fun time – actually where I live no one comes down our streets – in the dark, cold mountains “where nobody can hear you scream…” – we’re a bit off the treats beat! 🙂
Laura Funk

I don’t normally decorate for Halloween (we don’t have any kids yet) but our next door neighbor does a bit. No one here goes all out for Halloween unfortunately, but they do go big for Christmas!
Jessica Harlow
You really do have some great Halloween displays in your neighborhood! We love decorating for Halloween and definitely get into the holiday. I wish our neighbors were a little more into it, but we live where there are a lot of older couples. Our house is definitely the most dressed up! lol

Scott
We used to go all-out and even build a haunted house in our garage. Need to get back to that tradition!
lisa
Halloween is our favorite holiday. Our house is decorated top to bottom, in and out! I can’t get enough of the holiday!
Shell
These are great! I love the one with the guy looking out of the top story window!
Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle
Those houses look great. We never do much Halloween decorating, but I think that needs to change.
Athena
Although we do not participate in Halloween decorating contests at home – we do at the campground. Some of the campsites build some really elaborate full structures and plan 5 years in advance for the event. I wish I had that kind of time but we are there every year to support their efforts, admire everyone’s work and ingenuity and lastly of course vote.
Ashley @irishred02
We only do pumpkins here, but we trick or treat by a house with a moving spider. It freaks the kids out!
Robin (Masshole Mommy)
This year it seems that people have gotten more creative with their yard decorations than ever before. I love it.
