Being a parent is the single most difficult job you will ever have – I understand and agree with that. But, somewhere in between the sticky toddler hands pulling at your shirt and on your heartstrings, the skinned knees and broken teenage hearts, you’re reminded that being a mom or a dad is the best thing that has ever happened to you.
Summer is just around the corner, right? With the season comes summer camps, water fun, trips and so much more! But at the same time, summer brings all kinds of new dangers.
Blood-sucking bugs will be out in their hundreds, so if you don’t pack any bug spray or use a Pest Control Kingston service to smoke them out your home you’re in for an itchy time. The sun will be shining brighter than usual, and if you do not use sunscreen then you’re highly likely to get burned.
I couldn’t even imagine keeping my son indoors anyway, this is the season when we encourage him to go out and play! But that comes with little accidents too, minor boo-boos, you know what I mean, right?? Well, I want to share my tips to help your child have a safe summer because after all, the way you care for them shows how you demand only the best – for me, demanding the best for them, means reaching for CURAD .
Safe Summer Tips
Tip#1
Make sure before the children go out or participate in a fun activity, that you warn them about possible dangers. Be tactful about it without scaring them or condescending them, kids can be smarter than you think.
Tip #2
Apply sunscreen and bug repellent, depending on where the action takes place or purchase small size containers and send them with your children to summer camps or when they are out with friends. If your children are under 5 years old, make sure the camp staff will take care of that or relatives who might be taking your children out this summer.
After all, we don’t want to spoil the fun by having sunburns or bad bug bites.
Tip #3
Assemble a first aid kit bag. After having my son bleeding from stepping on a broken shell on the Jersey Beach a few years ago, I decided to always bring a small first aid kit with me to the beach and any other trips! It’s nice to have a bag filled with everything you need for first aid while away on your vacation.
I make sure I stock up on CURAD products because it’s the brand that is Hospital Approved. Life Tested™.
My kit contains :
CURAD Gauze, Pads
Disinfectant
First Aid Antibiotic Ointment
Topical Allergy Ointment
Tip # 4
Close supervision when children are with you.
Nowadays, cell phones and other distractions pull us away from watching our children sometimes, in a way that might otherwise prevent some of the dangers around them!
Keep them in sight all times, that’s my mantra, especially when my son brings a friend. For example, when they are in the water, my husband is always with them and we’re talking early teens, can you imagine when my son was little??!
Tip #5
Plan ahead as far as food goes. We love spending a day at the beach, but soaking in the sun without food and proper hydration is never a good idea. So we bring small coolers with fruit I freeze the night before, sandwiches and plenty of drinks. Making sure the items will not melt, that they are dry items and will be fresh in the small cooler.
Even when we stop at the boardwalk for pizza at the end of the day, we make sure we have snacks and drinks to keep the kids happy while enjoying the sun.
For me, being prepared and preventing accidents is crucial to a safe summer season! Whether you’ve recently had baby #1 or already sent your 4th off to college, share some of the ways you care for your family (kids, parents, etc.) and highlight why demanding the best for them means reaching for the pack of CURAD and patching those wounds.

We are days away from summer break. It is hard to believe how quickly this year has flown by. Sunscreen is a must. I was a brat when I was a kid and didn’t think it was for me. Now I kinda regret that decision.

Having a first aid kit on hand is absolutely a given. Basic safety 101. However it is also a great investment to make sure you undertake a first aid course as well – so you can feel more confident about handling things correctly if anything happens. You hope that day never comes but if it does, you really want to be prepared.
Meagan

Jeni
Bug repellent is definitely a must! Between ticks and mosquitoes I definitely want all the creepy crawlies to stay as far away from me as possible.
Sarah
These are great tips! I would definitely add that my most important summer tip is that EVERY child take swimming lessons or be taught the correct age to swim as young as possible. I grew up in Southern California, literally above the beach as a child and I learned how to swim before I could walk, it was a way of life. I have saved three kids from drowning, right in front of their parents, because their parents thought they were going to follow the rules (stay in the shallow end, etc) and the kids did not know how to swim. Especially when a child gets older, I’ve seen kids take their own floaty wings off and almost drown. Swimming and days at the beach are awesome, just be sure your kids know how to swim!
Jeanette
These are absolutely essential tips. I definitely try to protect my child from the dangers of the world but I also warned him of what can be out there. I always have a first aid kit on me and I usually have some kind of a food on me too LOL.
