If you’re like me, you put devices down way too late and when your head hits the pillow, to-dos & restless thoughts populate our brain. I’ve recently changed my evening routine and adding the daily devotional by Lysa TerKeurst, Clear Mind, Peaceful Heart along with Tips For A Peaceful Night.
Many thanks to Harper Collins Christian Publishing for providing a sample of the product for this review. Opinions are 100% my own.
Tips For A Peaceful Night
Simple Easy Steps For a Peaceful Night:
Put Devices Down
Cell phones, tablets, and computers have light, and engage our brains in a negative way at night, if used for prolonged hours. So I’ve been putting my devices down at least 3 hours before heading to bed.
Family Time
I sit with hubby to watch something together, sit on the deck and sing some songs, watch hummingbirds or just chat with my son, if he’s not at work.
It’s important to spend time as a family!
I also make sure to sit with my pups and play with them as well!
Caffeine-Free Before Bed
I’ve noticed recently that regular coffee prevents me from having a good night’s sleep. So I cut my coffee at 3 PM and do not drink anything with caffeine after that time.
Water is the only thing I drink after 7:00 PM since I start fasting at 6:30 PM.
Bed Time Routine
I’ve been saying good night to my husband 30 mins prior to actually wanting to fall asleep to listen to an audiobook, read the bible, or do a nighttime devotion.
That is why Clear Mind,Peaceful Heart is the perfect night devotion book to quiet fearful and anxious thoughts and bring me to a peaceful night.
Thanking God that He guarded me today and trusting that He will be by my side the next day as well.

What lies heaviest on your heart as you lay your head on your pillow? Are paralyzing
fear and anxiety stealing tomorrow’s peace? Listen to this invitation from Jesus:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you
rest” (Matthew 11:28 NIV).
Experiencing this kind of rest won’t come from escapism, more vacation days, or hiding our feelings. Jesus Himself provides rest to our weary souls. While He may not always fix everything right away, we can fix our thoughts on His Word. In doing this, we can sleep at night with ease knowing that God has it all under control.
Through the pages of Clear Mind, Peaceful Heart, written by New York Times best-

I try not to use technology too close to bed as I end up going down rabbit holes and losing hours of my time. I have a bit of a routine but I need to get into a better one so that it allows me to read more as that tends to help me get to sleep x

What a great idea, Claudia! My bedtime routine is not great. I stop drinking caffeine at 6 p.m. and try to go to bed at 10 p.m. But there never seems to be enough time in the day, and I’m usually on my phone until about 9. I’m grateful for your guidance and inspiration to change this routine!

Wow. I break ALL of these rules! I’m on my computer well into the evening, and even when I’m away from the computer, I still have my phone on me for clients.
Beth
I’m glad I found this because I’ve been doing the opposite of all of these. LOL. No wonder I have such a hard time relaxing at night.
