You know how much I love my deck! Spring time means spending time outdoors with friends and family, so having the perfect outdoor space is a must at our home!

I work 8 hour days on my phone, but nothing makes me happier than putting it down and enjoying a grilled meal outdoors with my family or hosting some friends for a cookout!

Human beings are social creatures by nature – we all long to talk, to share, to
interact and to connect with those who are near and dear to us.

Sadly, these connective needs are often trumped by the demands of an ever-quickening pace of life.

I know that too well! That’s why I make a point, to double my efforts to bring that back into our lives!

According to consumer trends research company, Mintel, people are beginning to
look for places and opportunities to switch off, tune out and disconnect.
Mintel says, “Through encouraging people to disconnect and take some time away from the connected world, brands can attract consumers who are feeling like a break
from the norm.”

Just like us! That’s why we created our “oasis” in our own backyard! And if you want to revamp your outdoor living space, what’s stopping you from reaching out to landscape designers in your area?

I’m actually looking right now at new furniture options like the one below to make our outdoor space even more inviting! There are some furniture stores in Melbourne that people have frequented that I’ve heard has some good outdoor furniture in, but I’ll have to look a little closer to home.

billionaire bastions of technology, Bill Gates and Tim Cook, among others, are
limiting the use of their devices and tools within their own homes as a way of
managing a healthy and well-balanced household.

My tip is to make the space inviting by adding speakers for example, where they can play music they like, but we still get to talk and spend time together!

Make it a S’mores Night!

We love adding fruit and other items to our S’mores night, it has become one of our favorite family activities!

We also have endless conversations about who makes the best S’mores!

Toasted, extra crispy or “Snow White” as my son calls it! Mine below is extra crispy! Yes!!! I can almost taste it!

It’s important, though, to have a safe fire pit in your back yard or deck, and , even if you don’t have a green space this is a perfect option for a wooden deck like ours:

The home is the center of all familial connections and the place for molding and shaping the lives of those most important to us.

That’s definitely a huge hit among teens! Last get together we had, they played for hours!

We even hosted a Dad & Son Game! Can you guess who won?

Bring the pets to your outdoor space, the kids will come too!

We often put a gate on our deck and bring our dogs out!

My son jumps right in! He loves hanging out with our pups!

My last tip for the perfect outdoor space is: if you build they will come

We opted to have a larger table with more seats and have three seating areas on our 20 x 20 deck, to allow more people to be comfortable when they eat and teens to have their own space to hang out!

We also have a table on the left for the food to be presented, buffet style.
