We needed a large vehicle to fit all our items for this road trip, since we booked a house, not a hotel, but also needed fuel efficiency. Today I’m sharing the Toyota Tundra Hybrid Adventure In North Carolina.
I received the Toyota Tundra Hybrid for review purposes to take on our road trip, but as usual, all opinions are my own.
Toyota Tundra Hybrid Adventure In North Carolina
Let’s start by cruising the area!
Here are 5 things you must see/do in New Bern, North Carolina:
The center of town brings the rich history to life with the historic buildings and memories of the first capital of North Carolina.
Take a Walk
Walk around the center of town to see the beautiful trees with moss, parks and read all about the history in the brick buildings and cobblestone paths.
The town offered self-guided and trolley tours.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can buy tickets to see the “Ghosts of New Bern” tour!
Local Food Scenery
The center of town offers amazing local restaurants with fresh catch of the day, local shrimp and clams and fresh burgers as well.
All the restaurants we tried were just a few blocks from our tiny house in the center of town.
We enjoyed the Morgan’s Tavern & Grill
Fun and casual atmosphere and the best fresh shrimp tacos with a surprising wasabi sauce I’ve ever had!
Hubby had a delicious burger!
The New Bern Sunrise drink was light and refreshing with a combination of champagne and seasonal fruits.
This hidden gem in New Bern offers a local catch of the day, fresh oysters, clams, shrimp, and crabs!
I tried the seafood pot pie
Hubby had fish and chips with a choice of two freshly caught fish from the area!
It doesn’t get any better than that!
We had lunch at Cypress Hall Restaurant
A more upscale look, the food is fresh and fairly priced!
The brick oven pizzas are to die for!
Water Views
The town is surrounded by water views, the sunset in the Union Point Park was unbelievable!
Tryon Palace
We unfortunately did not have a chance to visit the palace, but it was highly recommended!
Lively Night Life
The center of town also offers an open street with lights and restaurants, live music, but it only happens on weekends. We enjoyed it last time, but unfortunately didn’t have a chance to go this time.
The city also offers multiple bars/restaurants with live music and summer concerts.
Birthplace of Pepsi Cola
Being the birthplace of Pepsi Cola, you will find the place and the history behind the invention.
There the local pharmacist Caleb Bradham invented the original formula of what would become Pepsi-Cola.
Where To Stay
We had stayed in a hotel last time we came, so this time, we decided to book a “tiny house” with VRBO located in the Center Of New Bern.
The house was clean and offered all the amenities we needed.
Located in the center of town, the house offered us the perfect location to be at a walking distance from the city’s main attractions.
Here is a closer look!
The host had snacks and drinks for us, coffee and games.
But my favorite feature was the patio with trees, birds.
We enjoyed sitting outside, having breakfast and just listening to the birds and cicadas! So peaceful!
It was great to have this serene place in the center of New Bern! Perfect for the two of us as well!
The only minor detail is that they had parking in the main owner’s driveway or on the street, but our truck didn’t fit there, so we parked on the street, but it was a super calm street, so we had no issue with that.
The house was located besides the New Bern Firemen’s Museum.
One more curious thing about new Bern, every corner offers some pretty statues of the Bear, symbol of the town!
So why does New Bern have bears all over town?
In 1710, New Bern was founded by a group of settlers from Bern, Switzerland which was a city named after the first animal a group of hunters first came upon — a bear. New Bern adopted the animal as a mascot and placed about 58 fiberglass and ceramic bears throughout the city during its 300th anniversary in 2010.
Here are some of the ones I saw:
Now let’s talk about all that I loved about the Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro Limited:
It was a great option for our road trip, giving us all the space, comfort and fuel efficiency we needed for a long ride!
Let’s start by checking out the Tundra’s Exterior
I love the blue color, the grille, the headlights framing it and the hood louvers.
Also love, as a not so tall person, the step in the back to help me get access to the bed.
The tailgate extender is the perfect feature for a kayak lover like us!
Now let’s talk about Fuel Efficiency
We averaged 22/23 miles per gallon. We went to Maryland and returned using less than half a tank and drove 462 miles with less than a tank.
Having a truck which is so fuel efficient gives you the best of both worlds! A rugged, spacious drive, while saving on gas!
The Interior of the Toyota Tundra Hybrid, let’s go inside!
Love the spacious seats and leg room in the front seats, passenger seats.
My 6’9” son fit in it comfortably! He told me, “I love this truck, mom!”
The dash gives me a clear picture of all I need to know!
The Large screen (14″ display) is the perfect hub to my Apple Car Play features, but also is compatible to hubby’s Android Auto.
Cameras
The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro offers so many cameras and views, giving you that extra peace of mind, when it comes to safety.
Loved the super wide angle.
Sound System
The 12 JBL Speakers Premium Audio gave us the big loud awesome sound we love and the quiet ride music as well, all with the touch on the screen!
Love the interior design which offers a premium feel that comes with the TRD Pro Package.
Heated and Cooling front seats gives you the perfect option for a comfortable roadtrip! I kept the cooling feature on during the whole trip!
Driving Modes
It has 4 driving options to give you the regular day drive, the tow/haul, MTS and DAC Crawl.
The Tundra Hybrid tows 11,180 pounds, making it the perfect candidate for your camping adventures.
Panoramic Sunroof
The wide panoramic sunroof is a great feature, actually, a must for me in a truck, as it opens the view to the environment around you!
MRSP for this truck – $ 65,798

As our family has recently grown in size and our kids get bigger, I feel like our car gets smaller and smaller! I’ve been trying to find something that will fit lots and everyone too so that’s neat to see you go on vacation with a Tundra.
