I was extremely excited to have been invited to attend the Walmart Shareholders Meeting as a part of Hispanicize Media Group. We were included in the official media group.
I’m going to be honest, I have three Walmart Stores in a 10 mile radius, 2 just 3 miles from me, so they are my go to place for groceries and everything in between! Everything I need with unbeatable prices.
What I didn’t know was that the company is moving forward towards a new era, by merging innovation and customer-centric development. They are pushing through the competition aiming to deliver what their clients want, by adopting a faster, better, cheaper and convenient business operation.
Here are some of my highlights from the Walmart Shareholders Meeting:
Better Together
The company philosophy and investment in their work force really surprised me! From the in house training to streamlined college path and career advancement options; these place the company in a very desirable employer position!
Product Showcase at Walmart
Loved hearing about new arrivals, unique offerings such as the green slime ketchup or the chicken fight floats, which I can’t wait to grab as soon as I get home to place in my pool.
From Flowers, cakes, amazing home goods;
To a grill which is the “instapot for your barbecue”
But what really surprised me, was their e-com efforts, from a partnership with Lord’nTaylor to offer higher end products such as Anne Klein bags, Kate Perry Sandals and a variety of other brands and fashion options (available on line only)! Don’t you love those sandals??
Also how they are partnering with JetBlack, a brand new company which will offer an on demand product concierge service to help moms like me navigate busy lives without becoming overwhelmed! Leading the initiative is CEO and former Rent the Runway founder, Jenny Fleiss.
I have been to their stores hundreds of times, but after our visit this past week and a behind the scenes look, I learned how their app will help us:
- navigate the store,
- make returns a two step easy process
I also learned how a robot, called Bossa Nova, keeps their inventory and shelves organized and ready for us! (Any Robot named after a Brazilian rhythm is already a winner in my book!)
I also learned how the groceries delivered, the curb pick up all delivered at an amazing price! Also loved that the automation and directly off truck operation has reduced personnel and time while sorting and stocking product deliveries.
Walmart’s friendly Bentonville welcome came with a warm smile and a how can we help you approach from arrival till the time I left! Here are some event highlights, nothing better than working with people you love, while enjoying a great event:
Every time I return to one of their stores, I will carry with me those memories. Memories of a never stopping, always evolving customer-centric store! Which makes me appreciate it even more!

Sounded like an interesting event to have gone to. We love shopping at Walmart too and we have two stores within a 15 minute driving distance from our house so we go quite often.

Good to know what Walmart is doing to make their service even better. I love the innovation, the new products and new partnerships. I guess I will have to experience these myself, the next time I shop at Walmart!

Walmart has never been really an open behind the scenes type store, but this was awesome. I haven’t been to a Walmart in about 2 years and from the looks of this post it’s about time I start shopping there again.

This is such a good way to educate people on what is going on behind the scenes at Walmart and how the value the hard work their employees put in. Their stores are really a one stop shop and I love going to our local Walmart (even if it is quite a distance from home.)

Walmart is our go to store as well. You really can’t eat the prices and I’canr wait to see their positive changes in the future

It really sounds like Walmart has some wonderful things happening going forward. The robot sounds really cool! I especially love their curbside pick up. It’s such a blessing for busy moms who don’t have a lot of time.
It sounds like the trip covered lots of interesting things. I do stop in Walmart when I’m in the surrounding area, I can always find something in there.
Our family shops Walmart a lot. I felt like I was there, listening to their vision and goals. Your post really sheds light on how much Walmart places emphasis on their products and employees.
