Spring is just around the corner, so I have decided, as we’re getting ready to fix our outdoors damaged by the tornado, to work on some DIY projects to spruce my house up, from the inside out! If you’re like me, you have left these projects until the very last minute and, unfortunately, you can only put them off for so long. As some projects will be bigger than others, it is better to get them done first before moving onto those that can stand the test of time for now.
Also, it’s very likely that depending on what you will be doing to your home, it will create a lot of mess and dirt that will need clearing up afterward. So, why would you want to do the smaller stuff like hiring a Carpet Cleaning service to clean your already dirty carpet when there is a chance that it will get dirtier during your DIY process? I cannot stress enough as well how important it is to clean your gutters out over winter and if there is some sustained damage, then replace them with new ones. You could research a company similar to LeafCo Gutters or speak to your neighbors for ideas if you did find out that you need to replace the gutters on your house. It doesn’t make sense, so get all the big projects done first and then you can look forward to having a clean home once this has been done. Does this sound good?
If it does, without further ado, let’s look at my five tips for Spring Cleaning on how we will tackle those projects!
5 Spring Cleaning Tips
I want to start with the easiest areas I chose to tackle:
Spring Cleaning The Closets
For me, Spring Cleaning my closets is all about finding pieces I haven’t worn in the last year or two and donating them.
I also organize any closets that fell in the chaos mess of not having time to do it!
Plus, I got some colorful hangers, so I will remove all wire hangers and store plastic hangers and replace them with the pretty colorful hangers a friend gave me!
You can check them out below, if you need to grab some!
Awesome results, at low cost!
Here is one of my closets that I need to organize and how messy it was two years ago! CLOSET MAKEOVER
BEFORE
AFTER
I still need to donate more items, which will be my project this Spring, but this is a much better start than two years ago, don’t you think?
This is just one of my four closets, can you believe it?
Spring Cleaning My Small Pantry
We have a small pantry, so three years ago I set a plan to do a makeover, removed everything out of it.
I was able to organize it, but never completed the project.
I will be removing the shelves, painting the walls and installing new shelving!
One of my goals is to create space, just not sure how yet! You can check out my pantry cleaning project HERE.
Aiming to spend on a few items to finish our small pantry makeover:
- Paint to give it a fresh look
- New Shelving to prevent items from tipping
- New Containers to optimize space
Spring Cleaning Kitchen Cabinets
I started purging and organizing my kitchen cabinets when I bought a new stove in January.
We bought new pots and cooking spoons, so my goal is to donate/organize drawers and cabinets to fit new items.
I also want to remove medicine from my kitchen cabinet, buy an organizer for the downstairs bedroom and place them in there, leaving the space for more pots, cooking/baking items.
Spring Cleaning The Bathroom
I’m in the process of measuring the bathroom space to buy something like this:
We need something less than 20″ wide to fit on the side so I’m thinking of maybe buying two, one for each side of our bathroom.
Still working on finding a piece that works to move the medicine, and have a place for laundry items. We may expand on adding pieces to the bathroom when we take a step back and draw up some plans, or think about what small renovations we can do with the time and budget we have. While spring cleaning the bathroom, we might also need to look for Window Cleaning experts to clean all the window nooks and make them look new. Cleaning feels like such a tedious task that at times we fail to do it properly and need help from experts. However, that may be for the future, plus we would need to get in some professionals to help like a plumber local to us, similar to a plumber in Durham, but one that can be available when we want as we’ll need it to be checked over to make sure we don’t mess up any pipes in the process.
Spring Cleaning My Gym Room
My gym room became a spot where we drop off what we don’t want to have in other spots of the house.
I want to set a donate, throw away, repurpose clean up day in there and get the boxes and items from the floor and walls which don’t belong in there and reclaim my room.
I’ve donated all the bookshelves you see in this pic, but unfortunately replaced wall space with boxes which seem to multiply.
Can’t wait to tackle this project and share the final result with you!

You did a really good job! I’ve yet to tidy up and all, I thought having a lot of time because of lock downs would help.–it didn’t 😀 Keep it up!
