The Summer is here and with the fun times at the beach, pool, lake or during our walks by the creek behind our town, comes the inevitable damage caused by the high temperatures, hot wind, humidity and sun exposure.
I have an ongoing search for ways to not only keep my skin protected but also to repair age and weather damages. Repairing damage could be considered especially tricky as it is hard to reverse the clock back. However there are various products with beneficial ingredients that might be helpful. For example, the Polyphenol Dark Spot Diminisher ingredients and vitamin C serum lotions, might both be good in helping to erase excess damage to the skin if needed. So, while the summer is my favorite season, when I get to experience the same temperatures and climate I used to love when I lived in Brazil, it is also the season to take extra care and make sure I’m following special steps to achieve a gorgeous luminous skin and I will be sharing my most well kept secrets with you.
My first tip comes from my mom, of course, every Latina has something that has been passed through generations, that special abuela mask, scrub, night care routine.
Well, I have a special recipe shared by my Mom, her secret to being over 70 and showing healthy luminous skin without having a lot of wrinkles – her special refreshing night mask.
Her recipe called for any type of oil, but I have chosen to use JERGENS Shea Beauty Oil; a lightweight, fast absorbing beauty body oil with a nourishing and sheen enhancing ingredient, Argan Oil and the conditioning and illuminating ingredient Shea Butter – to add extra boost to her amazing recipe, which will help you repair the sun and weather damage!
Oil and cucumber mask – for any skin type – moisturizer
1 tbls JERGENS Shea Beauty Oil
1 tbls milk
1 ground cucumber
Mix all the ingredints. Apply on face for 20 min.
Second Tip: Hydrate. I often drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, but in the summer, I make sure, while outside or inside, I’m always hydrated, because a beautiful skin starts inside. I prefer no or low calorie drinks such as water, coconut water, fruit flavored water, instead of the sugary counterparts.
Third Tip: Always keep your skin protected before going out to be exposed to the sun and heat effects. I use a gel cream, because my skin is prone to breakouts, with SPF 35. I also use a facial powder with SPF 35 as a foundation for a finished but light look. Also apply body lotion with SPF 30 or higher, even for a short trip to the grocery store. Protecting is the key.
Fourth Tip: You have protected your skin but it still shows the signs of damage, I use JERGENS BB Body Skin Perfecting Cream which shows visible signs of skin improvement in just five days!
Fifth Tip: Immersion! Yes, I like to sleep with the air full blast on hot summer nights and I take advantage of that too after a shower, applying JERGENS Shea Beauty Oil all over my body and getting dressed with long pajamas and socks to keep the moisture locked in. Because I have my air on a lot during the high heat, I need to make sure that it is always functioning to its best level, otherwise, I could be spending a boiling hot night feeling horrible. If this is your worry too, then fear not as you can contact an AC repair company near you by Googling phrases such as “AC repair near Fallbrook“, for example, to match with what you need when you need it, so you can banish those hot nights.
The benefits of consistently hydrating your skin during harsh summer months are the satisfaction of showing a healthy, beautiful, luminous skin. You don’t have to avoid your favorite summer spots, instead, you will share a confident and guilty free attitude, embracing what is summer is all about: Fun!
