I have been coloring my hair since the age of 19! Many years, right? After a few years, I learned that the color and highlights every month take a huge toll on my hair and in order to keep it long, I need to take some steps to take care of it!
The holidays are here, and that means colder weather, open houses, Christmas parties everywhere, and events – which make me even more aware of the need to step up and take care of my hair!
So, after many years of trial and error, season after season, I am here to share my hard-learned lessons on how to maintain a vibrant hair color, as well as keeping my hair nourished.
5 Tips To Maintain A Vibrant Hair Color
It starts from within
I drink a lot of water, take vitamins daily, and have resorted lately to a plant based diet 4 days a week. I work on just ingesting healthy fats, which nourish my body without the bad effects.
Choosing the right hairdresser
After my hairdresser disaster, where I was forced to get my hair cut by half of the original length after a bad hair color job, I learned that choosing the right hair dresser and salon which has good color products, make a huge difference.
Use the right Shampoo
Dove Color Care Shampoo has been key in maintaining my hair color looking vibrant as well as keeping my hair nourished. I love that it contains coconut and almond oils, helping to restore shine and provide weightless nourishment for my colored hair!
Also the best Conditioner
A good conditioner is essential to keeping your hair nourished and shiny! Dove Color Care Conditioner is also my choice! This nourishment line instantly smooths and progressively nourishes hair, making it look and feel gorgeous, strong and healthier!
Not sure if you know that Dove Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner nourish and protect colored hair to keep color looking amazing for up to 40 washes
Protect Your Hair
I try to protect my hair from hair dryer and the push/pulling of a blow dry as much as I can! I wash it regularly and air dry, which seems to really help to keep my hair from breaking and looking dull!
I also use a hair dryer which is proven to use less heat and harm my hair less than other ones I’ve owned.
I leave it for the professionals and salon blow dry, when I’m working or have a photo shoot! But even then, my hair is treated and healthy, which makes any hair do work better!
Thought you would like to know that the Dove Hair products I’ve mentioned are available on Dove.com and in food, mass and drug retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.49 / 12 oz.
