Today we’re starting a new series, The 12 days of desserts! We will be sharing 12 of my favorite Brazilian desserts with you! They’ve made my holidays sweeter all these years, I hope they make yours as well!
Brigadeiros are my favorite dessert! My family loves it! I grew up eating it at every birthday party and holiday!
I love it so much, I couldn’t spend one of more Christmas without sharing it with you, with a new twist!
We don’t have candy canes in Brazil, I used them as the brigadeiro cover, to blend the best of both worlds, but you can add basically any topping you wish! Sugar, sprinkles, crushed nuts, the sky is the limit!
Ingredients:
2 cans of condensed milk
4 tbsp of butter (softened)
3 tbsp of powdered cocoa
5 small candy canes crushed
Preparation:
Step 1
Place ingredients in a pot in low heat and vigorously stir until it will not stick to the pot anymore, boiling.
Step 2
Mix vigorously until it is not runny, but thicker and darker, about 20min.
Step 3
Spread butter on a dish and place mixture to cool it off on it
Step 4
Apply butter to your hands, so they don’t stick while making the balls.
Step 5
When it is cool, about 40 minutes, form balls 1-2cm. Make sure it is not sticking to the pot or it will not roll into a ball!
Step 6
Pass them on the coatings chosen. I chose crushed candy canes to add an American taste to this Brazilian traditional Christmas favorite!
Step 7
Place it in small cupcake holders. I promise this is a dessert your family will ask for more!
I broke down in steps, but it’s actually a super easy and delicious dessert you can make days ahead and place it in a cookie tin container and they will stay soft and fresh!

Save for later:
Warning: they are addictive! You can’t stop eating once you start!!!! But they are so small, if you are like me, working on staying healthy, one brigadeiro won’t hurt!
Can’t wait to hear what you think, isn’t our easy Christmas Candy great? As usual, give us a Trendy Shout!
