I was so excited to find out that the Book Of Life, a vibrant animated fantasy-adventure, tells the legend of Manolo, a conflicted hero and dreamer who sets off on an epic quest through magical, mythical and wondrous worlds in order to reunite with his one true love and defend his village, which is out on DVD and Blu-ray!
When October comes, I always try to get inspired and do something different, because Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos are some of my favorite fiestas and celebrations!
Even though I love Dia de Los Muertos cooking and rich historical significance, I’ve never done a face painting to celebrate this important latin holiday! So I’ve decided to create a Dia de Los Muertos Make Up Tutorial for beginners, after I searched endlessly and could not find one to get inspired!
Follow me and create an easy 15 minute make up to help you celebrate Dia De Los Muertos in style!
Well, let’s go back to where I told you, this one is my first attempt to do it, having this tutorial as inspiration:
I bought Ben Nye products, which have better quality than craft store products and you can see them below:
Clean and apply moisturizer to your face:
Apply white make up base on your face with a make up brush or make up wedges
Apply Blue Make up around your eyes:
Apply Red under the eyes and add accents with it. Apply black on your nose and use it to add some details:
Apply red and yellow for details:

Of course She was my biggest inspiration:
One of our favorite things to do in October in our family is to watch fun movies all month long! Book of Life is always a must watch on our list!
Check out the surprise, movie director Jorge Gutierrez left for me:
Here is a movie trailer to inspire you to watch it! I know you will love it as much we did!
If you’ve always wanted to try a Dia De Los Muertos make up, but thought it was too complicated, now you have the inspiration to do it!
Join me to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos!
I can’t wait to hear what you think! As usual, give us a Trendy Shout!
I’ve always wanted to do this, but thought it was outside my skill level. Now I’ll try!
OMG that is so cool! I would love to try to recreate it for a costume. Just gorgeous!
Wow! You are so talented! I’m not sure if I could pull this if I tried it on my kids, but I know I couldn’t do it myself. Your face paint really looks great!
I am seriously impressed! That makeup turned out amazing!!! I’m definitely not as talented though!
That is so cool! I loved the movie the Book of Life! Your make up is stunning! Great skills!
May I say that your makeup is awesome! My daughter really gets into getting made up for Halloween. I will have to show her this post.

I have heard great reviews on The Book Of Life. I will have to try doing my makeup like this for a Halloween party I have coming up.
You did a great job on the makeup. I will have to pick up a copy of The Book Of Life.

I just saw this pic on Instagram. Your makeup looks great and I liked getting a refresher about the day and what it is all about here.
Wow! This looks fantastic! We love this movie too! We’ve watched it several times already but now I want to try this makeup tutorial!
You did such a great job!!!! My kids want to see this movie.
I think your makeup came out great. I am always amazed by how intricate sugar skulls are.
I love that you do yours super bright and colorful. It’s a celebration, not a mourning. Love it!
This would definitely be a fun way to go trick or treating with the kids. Thanks for the tutorial.
You made it seem so easy to apply this look! It turned out just fantastic!
This movie is on my must-see list as soon as my niece is old enough to enjoy it, but I must say that your tutorial – you did a great job! I’ve never been great with facepainting (despite a couple of years as a stint as a clown). That looks pretty intricate, and you look beautiful. I feel inspired enough I may try it!
Here in Canada we don’t celebrate the Day of the dead.
It wasn’t until a few years ago when I was down in California that I had even seen a sugar skull or anyone wearing the make up.
Looks super pretty though!

My family saw this movie as well. It was not advertised that well, we found it on cable. Love the makeup tutorial.
That would be a fun one for Halloween. I always like the way it looks because it’s so detailed. I’m pretty sure though my son will not wear it LOL.
