I love having plants at my house! They bring me the hope of Spring and summer and make me happy! My home office is the place that I have the most amount of plants because I spend most of my day there and will remember to care for the plants! Here are my favorite Easy To Care Indoor Plants.
Easy To Care Indoor Plants
In Brazil, my mom and my aunts always had plants around their homes – Ferns, African Violets, Small Palm Trees were the most common ones!
Pothos

I have several at home, some are in water, and some are in soil!
Pothos is a perfect plant option for a bathroom or office – it tolerates low light and does well in bright indirect sunlight.
If you put Pothos in nutrient-rich soil, it will do well, but if you grow it in poor nutrient soil – it’s not a problem as well.
If you have your plant in low light, the growth rate will be slower. Moderate light is perfect for Pothos.
I recommend watering Pothos once weekly.
Snake Plant

It feels comfortable in conditions typical for every office, bedroom or a bathroom – lack of natural light, dry air, heating, air conditioning system, etc.
This plant thrives in any light – from dim to bright sun.
The Snake plant doesn’t need a lot of water, it is not sensitive to temperature changes and doesn’t require any additional maintenance.
They look great with other plants and are well-known for their air purifying properties! I love that feature!
Orchid

I’m not going to lie to you. Before last year, all my orchids died, did not bloom, but when I brought them to my office, they flourished. I water them with cold water once a week and leave them in direct sunlight.
They are already blooming! I love seeing the flowers in full bloom!

Money Plant

One of my clients heard me complaining about losing some income, so she shipped this beautiful money plant to my house as a Christmas Gift!
I have an older one and it’s super easy to care, but it’s so large I need to move it into a larger pot!
I guess I’m still figuring out how the money plant works as far as bringing money in ;-)!
Plants That Didn’t Do Well:
My son bought a Banzai Tree, I grew it from seed, it went up about 6″ and it dried and died….
My African Violet looked gorgeous for a year, all of a sudden, it died….
I am not lucky with cacti plants either!
I buy them; they grow taller than the pot and then starts to die….not sure why.
I live a very busy life, so I need low-maintenance plants.
The ones that are easy to care for and look beautiful, while making me happy.
Here are some basic tips for caring for indoor plants:
- Don’t water too much, if you see mold on the soil, remove it and water the plant less frequently.
- Water it regularly by touching the dirt and feeling it.
- Avoid moving the plant to another pot, because sometimes it dies when you do that.
- Keep them near sunlight as much as possible
Here are some must-have supplies:
Watering can
I like a medium-sized one, which allows me to water some plants without going back and forth.

You can check this one out HERE.
Indoor Soil
If you need some soil/you see your plants’ roots, grab some and add it to the top.

I always keep a small bag at home. You can grab one HERE.
I personally don’t use plant food often, so I will not recommend it.
I’ve bought my plants at home improvement stores, to be able to get them on a budget!
Local nurseries sell them for a lot more money!

This is good as someone who loges putting plants inside my house, this is great!
I related so much to the idea of plants that thrive without constant attention. Life gets busy, and knowing there are indoor plants that still look good with minimal care makes bringing greenery into a space feel doable.
Thank you for sharing this! I was just looking for ways to bring my orchid back to life. I can’t wait to try some of your tips!
Well the Pothos, never knew what that plant was called. I used to call it, the can’t kill me plants. They grow and grow and grow. We have one that hung from the ceiling of the second floor to the lower level, to the carpet!
My Pothos plant has been with me for years, almost 20! She has grown, lost stems, and continues to hang in there for this not-so-green-thumbed owner. The orchid has me intrigued…
I loved how this post makes indoor gardening feel totally welcoming by highlighting plants that are both beautiful and genuinely easy to care for — perfect for beginners or busy households. Your tips on light, watering, and placement take the guesswork out of keeping plants happy and make greenery feel like an achievable part of everyday life. Thanks for sharing such inspiring and practical suggestions that turn any space into a more vibrant, calm, plant-filled haven.
I love plants and usually do really well taking care of them, except for orchids, mine always seem to die. I think I need to give it one more try and maybe switch up the spot where I keep it.
I love plants and used to do a lot of gardening before I sold my home and downsized. Now, I’m a big fan of container gardening and I have plants on my windowsill, too.
As you pointed out, some plants are easy and some are finicky. My orchids have done very well while a few others have struggled. The African violet is very finicky for sure.
Having a desk full of greenery makes working from home feel so much more peaceful. Pothos and snake plants are definitely the best for those of us with busy lives.
This is exactly what I needed to know! I recently moved to an appartment with a tiny balcony, so I need indoor plants I can take care of with no fuss (I’m not at it lol). Thanks for all the tips!
African Violets are SO HARD to take care of! I managed to keep one alive for two years before it went roots up. LOL
