I’m sharing #Aveeno advocates in my life as a sponsored series for Socialstars.™
You have followed my hair transformations. Each summer a different color, the sun, the heat and salt and pool water have taken a toll on my hair. The above is my most recent color and hair cut!
The hair dryer and salon visits to make sure my hair is ready for events is also one of my biggest concerns, since I don’t like attending events sporting my natural curly hair:
So, I have looked for different ways to keep my hair healthy and ready to shine, not only in the summer, but extending its results all year long. There are plenty of products out there too, I especially like the ones which protects color and hair health to help you defy fading and damage – that’s important to me! However one really stood out to me this year. Are you ready? I will be sharing a few things I have learned that not only improved my overall hair look, but also helped prevent hair breakage and dry ends:
Healthy Summer Hair Tips
Choose Your Shampoo and Conditioner Wisely
Beautiful Hair starts with great shampoo and conditioner, I use Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo and Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo . I love that Aveeno Pure Renewal shampoo and conditioner remove impurities and are sulfate free, fixing the damage and great to reboot my beauty routine!
Protect Your Hair From Sun Damage
In the summer, I keep my hair in a pony tail, braid or in a bun as often as I can, because the daily sun damages goes undetected, but did you know that it harms your hair as much as if you were on the beach or a the pool? Yes, I’ve found that out the hard way.
Trust me, Summer can absolutely damage your lustrous locks!
Besides reducing the exposed area, I use a Moroccan oil or a leave in product in the summer for that extra protection.
You already know my beach and pool days are always under the protection of large summer hats and often I also apply a mask before direct sun exposure, washing it afterwards, for that extra boost!
Here is my homemade recipe to protect and restore sun damaged hair:
Avocado mask
1 large avocado
1 tbsp. of honey
2 tbsp. of olive oil
Mix it and apply to the hair, scalp and to the ends for 20 minutes and cover it. Rest for 25 minutes. Use a cool rinse to remove it.
You are what you eat….and drink
Drinking plenty of water and eating fruits and vegetables and healthy fats have also proven to improve and be a great ally in keeping my hair healthy, despite all the summer damage.
I adjust my regimen of course, for changing seasons but Aveeno is my only choice all year long.
What are your summer hair care tips? How do you keep your hair healthy and shiny in the summer? I can’t wait to hear from you! As usual, give us a Trendy Shout!!

You hair looks not only beautiful, but super healthy! The summer is a killer for my hair. It gets frizzy due to the humidity in Florida. Thanks for the tips, wasn’t aware our eating habits also affect our hair!

I don’t have “long luscious locks” any more – mine’s short and gray/ graying (I’m almost 60), and I gave up getting it colored about 4 years ago when I first discovered I was going to be a grandmother. But I probably should try some new products to take better care of my aging hair. I have thought about trying Aveeno products, actually, and your avocado blend sounds interesting.
Renee
First off I have to say your curly hair is beautiful! I am a firm believer of the fewer products in the hair the better off it will be. That said your tips are awesome. I did not realize that what we eat and drink can affect the health of our hair. I guess I should have expected that. Great post!
