You know we’re a busy family, but we have a family agreement, that we take a day off on our weekend, as a family, to clean our 3,200 sq ft home!
I must admit, it would take us more than a day if we were to clean the whole home, so we use that day to clean mostly used living spaces and once a week, we address issues in low traffic rooms, like the formal dining room, my gym room, etc. It would be easier for us to move to a new home if we had to clean the entire house in a day each week. I would much rather browse some Elm Grove Real Estate listings, or listings closer to where we are now (I can daydream right?) than clean the house top to toe. I love our house, but the thought of moving somewhere easier to clean does creep in some days.
I also have another rule of working 5-10mins a day in closets. I have a big project to organize my gym room, which has been doubling as a video studio and storage for teaching materials and I want to get all that out of there into my storage space. Leaving just one bookshelf with things I need on a daily basis to teach my clients.
That being said, I have a few tips to make the dreaded “clean the house day” more fun for the whole family!! Don’t believe it? Check it out:
How To Make House Chores Fun
Tip #1
Make it FUN!! Use music to make any task more fun! I personally love the option that Google Chromecast gives us to bring our favorite music into any room! All we have to do is plug into any speaker or computer in that room and boom! Clear, amazing sound coming out of any device!
Another great feature is that it offers so many free options for music which is streaming, giving you new choices, avoiding the boredom of the same old music on your library!
Because Chromecast Audio uses WiFi instead of Bluetooth, you can stream crystal clear hi res sound! Here are other great reasons why we love it:
1) Listen to your favorite tunes on your speaker
By using your phone, it’s easy to play, pause, or change the volume from anywhere in the home. And while streaming, you can still text or call without interrupting what’s playing or draining your battery.
2) Crystal clear sound, powered by the cloud
Use Chromecast Audio to stream over Wi-Fi which has many advantages over Bluetooth including higher sound quality.
3) Enjoy hundreds of your favorite audio apps
Stream millions of songs, radio stations, and podcasts through apps like Pandora, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Google Play Music. Find more here!
4) Play music everywhere with Multi-room
Now you can easily fill every room in your home with synchronous music. Simply group Chromecast Audio devices together so you can listen to the same song on multiple speakers. Sometimes my son, does that and shares some of his favorite tunes with me!
My son and I also stop the chores sometimes and dance!! It’s funny how much fun you can have together, just being silly for a bit!!! Your fun will be passed on to your children, trust me on that!! Sometimes I play Latin music and shake, shake, shake and I watch my son come and shake it too!!! So much fun!!! Who cares that we’re sweeping the floor or running the vacuum while doing it??
Hubby can play his 70s music while he takes care of the bathrooms! Everybody is happy!
Tip # 2
Rewards! Yes, we talk about something fun we want to do that weekend and share as a family, that we will do it, as soon as the chores get done. Same with my son, he gets to enjoy his computer and video games, after he helps us. We often explain to him, we wouldn’t get paid if we didn’t work, right? So school work and helping with house chores are your ticket to have access to the great things you enjoy at home!
Tip # 3
Schedule it! We usually set Saturday, as “clean the house” day! Everybody wakes up and knows that we need to work on chores before we move on with our day! I try not to schedule events, nor get-togethers before 3PM to give us time to take care of household chores!
Tip # 4
Delegate it! Knowing each of the chores you are responsible for taking care of helps the nagging and who does what kind of argument!
For example, it is my job to clean the kitchen! So I just go and take care of it. But I must admit, it is not an easy task. Since the kitchen is a constant source of food and water, rodents or pests can be attracted to this area, getting rid of them could be a hassle. Because of this, we often hire a pest control company to take care of it rather than do it ourselves. There might be a lot of people who believe that they can easily get rid of pests by using some home remedies. However, such methods may not be effective in all cases, which is why taking the help of professionals could be necessary. You can visit https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/local/florida/ or other such websites of reliable pest control services in your area that can assist you in eliminating the pest issue.
You see my kitchen above, all clean, waiting for my son to run the vacuum and take pizza boxes to the recyclables container outside!
We divide chores by three, so it’s fair with everybody. But you know I end up doing most of it, because I see things which need to be done, but that’s OK, because during the week, hubby takes care of most tasks while I’m blogging and out and about with clients! We’re a team!!!
Tip # 5
You want to lead by example and have them grow up in a home which is “guest ready”! We always clean the house as if there was somebody coming over!! That’s what I tell my son! He asks why? I say, because you want to take care of and be proud of the space you live in! So sometimes when he visits some friends, he comes home talking about the “mess”, so funny! That tells me that he’s learning and we have ingrained a good foundation to help him become an organized and clean homeowner, without stressing out too much!
Our goal in doing all the above is living in a clean and clutter free home, because I truly believe a cluttered home leads to a cluttered life and nobody wants that, right?
A cluttered home can be a huge hindrance to peace, calm, and space. It is becoming increasingly popular to clear clutter because people are becoming more aware of how cluttered their lives are. Having it all isn’t guaranteed happiness, or perhaps we’ve realized that ‘having it all’ doesn’t always bring happiness. The goal of de-cluttering is to reorganize your existing possessions so that you will be able to locate most if not all of them. Organization involves filing in proper filing systems, storing in storage containers, and finding the appropriate spots for them. Cleaning up your living space will definitely help you feel more spacious. The things you keep are those that add value to your life, that you need, love, appreciate, and cherish. After you complete this task, you’ll have less random clutter taking up space in your cupboards, garage, shed, drawers, on table tops, shelves, and on your work surfaces. In addition, you won’t have as much stuff stacked in your basement and on your stairs and you could just get in touch with a professional agency similar to a Junk removal Melbourne company who can get the old things out of your home!
If you are ready to start your Spring Cleaning early and want to join me in making your house chores more fun, check Best Buy for more information on how to stream happiness via Google Chromecast!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and how you make your house chores more fun!!! As usual, give us a Trendy Shout!

We have a Chromecast for our TV, but I am totally going to look into the audio! I hate carrying my speaker from room to room or having to blare it loudly. Thanks for the info!
Tiffany Hathorn
I hate cleaning up, but I find that singing (and dancing) while I clean does make it more enjoyable. Sort of like Mary Poppins says: “With every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. Find that fun and (snap!), the job’s a game”.

Great tips! I’m always trying to find ways to make chores for myself and the kids to be fun! One thing is the music is always blasting! We boogie down and clean!
Sherry
I love listening to music while cleaning. I find it helps pass the time more quickly. I need to implement a day for the whole family to clean. I find that my husband and I do most of it while the kids do hardly any. I like the idea of working 5 – 10 minutes a day on the closets. I swear the kids shove everything in theirs.

These are awesome tips! I think I need to get a Chrome Audio! Sounds so fun!

Emily
Music, music all the way! I have a Google Play account and love the different radio stations they have based on what I am doing or other artists I like. I always need music on when I am doing things around the house.
uprunforlife
I think it is important that kids learn how to do chores at an early age. They are living in the home and likely messing it up too. So they need to learn how to pick up after themselves. I have tried to keep up with the house on a daily basis since we moved into a small home. I like it because it is easier to keep up with since I don’t have a huge/overwhelming space now. I have health issues so I tend to wear out very quickly.
Vera Sweeney
Thanks for sharing these tips. I’ll have to invest in Chromecast audio. We have some speakers that I would love to pipe my jams through.

Yeah, that’s the way I like to do it. Put some jams on and just go to town. I’m happier cleaning, and not as grumpy. I’ll have to do this tomorrow morning while I’m waiting for our guest to come in from out of town.
Paula Atwell

I love turning up the music while I clean. I get a great workout mopping and dancing. Plus the mop doesn’t step on my toes when we waltz around the kitchen.

Cleaning house is one of those necessary evils we have to do. I am one of those people who actually enjoys cleaning my home. Listening to music on long cleaning days is my trick too and I play it really loud.
