I attended Latism13 and most Latinas were talking about how much they wanted to trade their heels for “chanclas” – flip flops. Trust me, Latinas and high heels are like avocado and guacamole! But the sudden change of heart, inspired me to ask women around me if they loved or hated the high heels and why?
I knew women had passionate love and hate relationships but I never thought I would collect 45 responses from friends and fellow bloggers! Some answers were truly amazing and I wish shoe companies could hear some of the answers and would cater to us and make comfortable high heels!
High heels in Brazil are a lot more comfortable than most American high heels I have bought and that is why I believe more women slip heels on and never let go in my country! It’s comfortable and it feels good and looks good, a win/win combination!
I have asked permission to share some of the answers regarding this love/hate relationship, but need to add that all the answers were truly amazing to me!
Amyirah from 4hatsfrugal wowed me with: “If you pick the wrong pair, you risk looking like a hooker out on her first job. Wobbly, afraid, and taking on way more than you should.”
Christie from Right Hand Mom: “Why do I love them? Let me count the ways. Confidence when wearing. No matter how much weight I gain or lose I never mind people staring at my hot feet. They can make a plain dress a knock-out outfit. My legs look longer, my ass looks higher. I stand in front of crowds taller than most, which all leads back to that confidence thing. Is it obvious I have a total love affair with high heels? ”
Shelley from Still Blond After All These Years said: “Oh my goodness #Love #WhatOttherKindOfShoesAreThere “
Julia said “I like them if the shoe is made well. I’m fussy about them because I have a wide foot and bad knees. But I’m only 5’2″ so I need all the help I can get! LOL”
Claire said : “Totally love heels!!! Don’t even mind when my feet are killing me at the end of the day! I think they are the best part of an outfit. They make my legs look amazing and the funkier the heels the more compliments I receive. Shoes are my obsession!!”
Rebekah from Queen Mother Blog said: “I hate high heels because of the pain. It’s usually not worth it for me. Chanclas all the way baby!”
Rita from Yippy Momma said: “I can’t run after my kids in heels.”
I know, you are probably wondering what I think about high heels? I looooove them! I could not live without them, I spend countless hours in them and they are my best company at an event, conference or church! I own more than many pairs of high heels and feel totally naked without a pair when doing business, it gives me that extra sparkle, that extra sprinkle of confidence. If it depended on me, heels would be my only option, but since I teach children, several hours every day, I leave them for special business occasions!
I am so excited about the buzz this discussion generated, that I have decided to go shoe shopping and tell you my opinion on some Fab Heels, Stay Tuned!

I love high heels! Can’t wear them anymore but still have that urge to buy new high heels every season. As a ‘shorty’ I love the height they offer but best of all I feel so feminine when I wear them. What happened to the days I could walk miles in my heels? Ah well…am a barefoot girl now (or if forced into shoes, wear flats), but still the one piece of my wardrobe I love investing in (or as my husband calls it blowing money on) is shoes. Every once in awhile I still buy a great looking pair of heels even though I know I won’t be able wear them long! Sad, so sad! For a woman who can’t wear heels I went and counted how many pair I own… would you believe 22? I’m a wanna wear heels gal.

I LOVE high heels just not walking all day in them

I used to always wear heels but now with a toddler I stick with comfy flats. I do splurge on wedges sometimes

A few summers ago, I spent many months in sandals, and when fall came around, my feet couldn’t even handle some of my favorite boots with modest heels. It’s flats for this mama!

SO cute! I love the leopard ones, and the candy stripe heels are adorable!

I like the middle shoes, although I tend to wear higher heels 😉

It’s SUCH a love/hate relationship! LOVE the way they look, HATE the way they feel! Your shoes are fabulous, now I might need to go shoe shopping…

I love my heels. They make an imperfect body look so much better. I don’t like the pain they can create but sky high shoes are the way I roll. I totally love Amiyrah’s comment. So so true and I have seen that quite a bit.

Great article, Claudia! I love a nice pair of stilettos! 🙂 I absolutely agree with both of the quotes Claire referenced. When a woman puts on a nice pair of shoes she has a little extra swing in her step. I love to “strut my stuff” in heels, but I’ll always make sure to have a pair of flats near by 🙂

Oh how I love a great pair of shoes! 🙂 I agree with both quotes Claire referenced. Great shoes can do a lot to increase a woman’s confidence and attitude. Strut your stuff, but make sure you have some flats close by! 🙂
Great article Claudia!!

Love those leopard ones! Sadly, the only time I wear heels these days is if I am going to a wedding. Can’t hack em while carrying children all day long 🙂 I hope I don’t forget how to walk on them when the day comes that I can wear them again!

I like the look of heels, but they just aren’t comfortable! I’ll wear them when I go out, just to look a little more dressy.

So this article made me think of a quote that I read from Christian Louboutin, which I now cannot find, but it said something about his shoes being like candy. They are good in small doses but were not made to walk all over the city. I did however find another quote from Monsieur Louboutin “Shoes transform your body language and attitude. They lift you both physically and emotionally.” Couldn’t agree more!!!

Love the quote so much will transform it into a pic and use on SM! I wanted to thank you so much for supporting what I do!
