I’m sitting on my couch after a long holiday break, working on my goals, vision board and excited about what the New Year has in store for me and for all around me! I just love this time when people make plans and see a better person ahead, but how about when the new year comes and you see your plans going down the drain along with your hopes and dreams? Well, don’t set yourself up for failure, I’m going to share five tips why you should make the right resolutions:
Weight Loss Resolutions – You write: I want to loose 80 pounds, then you feel overwhelmed on what to do and how to start…your body is not responding. I know because that’s what happened to me in 2012, I wrote as one of my goals, I want to lose 10 pounds and go back to my size 2/4 in 2012. Guess what – didn’t work. I spent the year frustrated and did not lose one pound! In 2013, I took small steps, brought exercise back into my life and my body started responding, not only did I lose 10 pounds, but 22 pounds! I went from 147 -125, my current weight, which I have maintained since August.

Don’t know where to start? Here are the five simple tips which helped me:
- Drink plenty of water
- Remove/Substitute sugary drinks (I have celebrated 18 months without soda this month!) I still drink lemonade, coconut water and Brazilian Guarana which is a natural soda, like juice. But water is my best friend!
- Eat 2/3 portions of fruits every day, they will fill that hungry time when you reach out for cheese puffs. I know, it will feel weird in the beginning, just eat and you will feel better and better.
- Go Nuts! Yes, add nuts to your diet, if you are not allergic. I love cashews and almonds, so I always have them around to munch! They will give you that extra energy boost and help your weight loss process.
- Get Moving! It’s winter, I feel lazy too, I haven’t worked out in 10 days, but I reduced my calorie intake to compensate….your body needs that extra push to get those calories burning! I have never seen anybody lose weight without doing some type of exercise. I’m not a runner, so I walk, 3/4 times a week indoors, I alternate legs and arms with weights and just signed up for yoga to boost my routine.
If you read my posts above you will see that I used It Works products to help me, they helped my body go back to its previous shape while I was losing weight, I highly recommend it, so much so, I just received a Christmas box with new wraps and gel to use! They have a lot more products that I haven’t tried, so I recommend checking it out!
Since it’s a new year, I have decided to check into something new! Dr. Liz Moore, somebody whom I hold in high regard introduced me to NEOLIFE. Her daughter Emily is sharing the amazing news with our local community and I wanted to share with you too! They offer a weigh loss challenge where you get rewarded (after achieving results) products which have been backed by more than 50 years of experience and so much more!
I hope to have inspired you to get started, I’m telling you, for me, subtle changes lead to bigger results! Do you think my game plan is over? Far from it, I am now trying to set a menu plan and bring exercise back into my crazy routine. In my case, as it is for many people, being healthy and maintaining my weight is a life long decision. Can’t wait to hear your success story! What are your plans?
Here is to a NEW YOU in 2014! Let’s do it together!

I am on a getting to a healthy weight for what seems like ages. I keep starting and stopping my exercise and I know that is the biggest reason why I have not been consistent with losing. Congrats on getting to your weight and maintaining!

Congrats on your weight loss. I find that when I drink more water, I feel healthier and I’m working hard to master that in 2014. Again, congrats!

Great tips Claudia! And awesome job taking off those pounds….

Thanks for the reminder! I “say” I’m going to drink more water and eat more nuts, but don’t “do” it by the end of the day. I’ll have to check out some of the products listed, especially the tea–which will count as water servings!

These are some great tips, Claudia. I’ve never heard of New Life, but I’d love to recommend it to a few friends that are looking to be healthier in the new year.
Caitlin
good work! That is impressive. I need to work on drinking more water. I was so good about it when I was pregnant but I think since I’ve been slacking I’m dragging more.

Congrats Claudia! I lost 10 pounds just doing Zumba last Fall and want to lose another 15. My cousin sells for ItWorks and I’ve got some supplements that I’ve been meaning to try and this was just the reminder I needed! Keep up the good work!!!

Buckaroo and I have set some weight loss goals for the new year. While we have set a number, we are more focused on being healthier in general and making better choices concerning our health.I have a friend who is an It Works distributor but I’ve never tried it. I may have to give her a call now. You never want to be the guinea pig you now? Lol Thanks for sharing and congrats on achieving the healthy body you want!!!

Without a vision, the people perish, right? Having goals is so important, but having SMART goals is imperative to success. Best wishes with your 2014 goals, I’m working on mine now.

Congratulations, Claudia! What an awesome accomplishment!

Congrats on your weight loss! Those wraps look quite interesting. Just had my 3rd baby…and lost most the weight, but am not yet the same “shape.”

Wow, I had no idea! You look fantastic, BTW. Congratulations, this is awesome. I definitely did damage this holiday season, but I’m working on incorporating way more veggies this year.

I am so impressed, and not surprised, Claudia. You are one determined person, and in the short time I’ve known you I have learned so much.
I wish I could exercise more. With MS I can’t run or even walk fast. Balance is an issue. I was doing yoga but am now dealing with a frozen shoulder that is very painful. So, I try to walk, but it’s been too cold. Yada yada yada.
New year, new start, still on Jenny Craig for now. I know it’s temporary, but it’s a start.
Love you and your blog. Happiest New Year,
Cathy

Congratulations! I also lost about 22 pounds this year but I think the holiday season might have done some damage. Looking forward to getting back on track in 2014!
