Most of you don’t know I used to wear braces, I went through a process of adjusting, comfort zone totally rumbled and for 4 years of my life, the outgoing and bubbly me, had a shadow hanging over her face! I showcased something which was not natural and during my teen years, it was the mark that something was wrong with me. Braces for many people can cause them to have confidence issues as they are worried about smiling or getting something stuck in their braces, they have to see which foods they can eat without them getting stained, as well as checking out what electric toothbrush for braces is best, it is something that is always on the mind.
One day, my mom sat down and we had a talk and the fashion lover in me, totally embraced the fact that I would have braces and I lived through those years, looking forward to confidently sporting that picture perfect smile! But the braces were like having a sign, “look at me, I’m not perfect”, affecting my self esteem. I had looked on websites like Babblin Brooke to try and find ways to boost my self esteem but it was a deep rooted issue. I just hated how my teeth looked!
Now I have been informed that my son will also needs braces/correction procedure, he has a small jaw line, same problem I had, which causes the teeth to mount on top of each other. I have been looking at options for braces and found out about Invisalign , which is a discreet alternative to braces that allows you to perfect your smile without sacrificing your busy life nor making you self-conscious about your teeth, like I was. It is lucky that people nowadays can visit websites such as https://www.cosmeticdentistsnewyorkcity.com/porcelain-veneers/ to help them get the smile they want, and sometimes need.
After learning the amazing benefits of it, I wish I had that alternative when I was younger! That motivated me to share with other women who have children/teens who need braces, who might want an alternative to the high cost of braces, to their overall look, because no one needs to know.
I am working with my son’s dentist to learn more about it, but as with any medical procedure, consider getting a second opinion if you are told you are not a candidate for Invisalign. Not all dentists and orthodontists are certified Invisalign providers. The best way to find an Invisalign provider is to visit the Invisalign Doctor Locator. That will be the next step for him, check his options out.
In honor of Self Improvement Month and through the beginning of October, Invisalign wants to challenge women to take on something you’ve always wanted to do for yourselves and give your self-confidence a boost. Now is a great time to consider physical, emotional and spiritual changes and why not start with your smile?
I wanted to share and invite you to check out the Invisalign’s Countdown to Confidence sweepstakes which is awarding one winner $100 each day for 60 days plus a chance to win the grand prize: free Invisalign treatment and $1,000! Enter daily to increase your chances of winning. Check it out at: http://bit.ly/1sVDKrw.
When you see my messages of empowerment, hope and positive action in Social Media, you probably wouldn’t know that it took a lot of work and effort for me to overcome the marks and insecurities that my early teen years engraved in me. I was recently included in a “perfect smile” campaign and looking back, it’s great to reflect on it all and see that it all paid off; I just wish I had traveled through an easier road and that there were better alternatives for me. Dental technology has advanced so much, even in my own lifetime, that their are so many options to improve the appearance of a smile, even surgeries like this one: https://www.gumsurgery.com/surgical-procedures/pinhole-procedure/. I can’t help but wonder if I would have been happier had I had that choice myself. But I will share my smile with you and ask you to judge, what do you think?
Do you have a self confidence story? Has the lack of that perfect smile ever prevented you from shining? Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Hello Claudia:
Yes, it can be so difficult to deal with issues of self confidence. It can start at such a young age.

I had braces when I was younger, not the Invisalign as it ws around in the 80’s. Fortunately, it was pretty cool to have them. It seemed that a lot of kids had them at that time.

You look wonderful, and so do your teeth! I have always had a problem with my red hair, but I finally learned to embrace it.

Your teeth look great! Thankfully I have never needed braces but it’s good to know if my kids need braces there is a better alternative than metal.

It is so great how much easier the process is these days. I was lucky and never had to go through it, but my sisters did. I remember their lips hurting and being teased… it was awful!

I would totally use those if I every had to use braces. What a great way to wear them without them being shown.
