You know how much I love cars, checking out new trends and new vehicles for car reviews, but what you don’t know is how important my own car is to me! I have met a few people over the years who love their cars and will do what they can to keep in running in great condition, including checking out some cheap tyres online for their car model so they always have a spare in case they break down, as well as keeping a toolkit in their trunk. Very versatile people I’d say and it goes to show how much they care.
I came from a large city in Brazil, as large as Philadelphia, having a car to navigate my city was not an option, you needed a car if you wanted to get anywhere, because public transportation is not good at all!
When I moved here, I could not drive immediately, as I didn’t have my own car. I believe it was one of the hardest times for me, to be dependent on my boyfriend to go grocery shopping or simply run errands. That made me appreciate, when he gave me a brand new car and restored my freedom! It was a gift I never took for granted!
I have nurtured my love for cars and taking care of ours, ever since! We don’t skip oil changes or service time to ensure our vehicles are in top shape! You can head down to any local auto repair shop Chantilly VA, Texas, wherever you live really for these checks but make sure you do them regularly.
I learnt most of this advice from one of my friends who owns their own fleet for their company and have to constantly think about the maintenance of all of their fleet vehicles so they have a reduced chance of breaking down. However, rather than using my new skills (haha) he uses more professional businesses like Ferguson Truck Center to do vehicle inspections, oil changes, and everything else to ensure the reliability of his vehicles, plus they also do emergency breakdown repairs, which is perfect when you are running a fleet of vehicles! Fleet insurance becomes important in these scenarios. Thus, in cases such as this, using various insurance sites to compare motor trade insurance could prove useful.
Anyway, I also rely on vehicles to fulfill my blogging obligations! I know you see all the pictures of the events I attend across Social Media. Just this past week alone, I was in NYC, Philly and North Jersey to attend blogging events! Having a reliable car, is not a choice for us, it’s something we take very seriously, because our lives and income are at stake.
So I want to share some of the steps with you, that we follow, to ensure our vehicle is in top shape:
- We bring the vehicle for oil changes as soon as the sticker or maintenance light comes on, depending on the vehicle.
- We bring the vehicles for service and maintenance routine check ups when they are due
- We often repair minor things in the vehicle before they actually break down, it’s all about preventing it!
We trust our vehicles to Walmart as an auto center that takes care of one of our most precious assets; we recently took one of our vehicles to get the oil changed at our local store and the auto center, which not only performed a complete inspection, but used our favorite brand, Quaker State which my husband has been using for 3 years, to give the best performance to our vehicle!
They also placed us in a waiting room with TV and internet and cleaned our vehicle after finishing the oil change! I was so impressed how courteous and careful about every detail they were in the process, instead of most places, where you are just a number in line!
They came twice to give us an update on the service and how long it would take to finish and we only had to wait a few minutes for it! They also asked for feedback when we were called to pay for the service!

I’ve actually never considered Walmart for my car care. How do their prices compare to other local shops? My car has a couple warning lights on right now, so I know I need to get it in as soon as I can. This might be a great option for me!

Having a trustworthy and well maintained car is so important. Without my vehicle I’d be done as we live in the country without close access to a lot of things, including my place of employment so taking care of the vehicles so that we can depend on them is essential!

Its important to have a car you can trust AND a mechanic shop you can trust!
These are great ideas. I made the mistake of not getting my car checked out before a big trip up north and it backfired! I had to get a rental.
I always think of Sears as having an auto center, but more and more Walmarts do too. That’s pretty awesome and it’s nice to have a vehicle you can trust. I’m a mom of two so it’s vital!

I get my oil changed at Walmart all the time. I love that I can shop while they do it.
We had our oil changed at Walmart a few months back. They did a good job!
I have been driving the same vehicle since 2006 and it’s getting to the point where I am needing to get an upgrade but we haven’t found the right one yet.
It’s definitely so important to make sure to do your car’s regular maintenance and oil changes on time. My husband wasn’t very good about doing that when we were first married and had to have our engine repaired because of it. We definitely learned our lesson.
I think it’s important to learn how to do it yourself, and I’m glad I can change my own oil, but it’s sooooo much easier to take it to someone you can trust 🙂
I’ve always trusted the car care tho the hubby but I’m becoming more aware of what I need to do now that my car is getting older. I Think it’s smarter to fix it before it needs it and maintain instead of waiting for a major issue!
That whole “bringing it before it breaks” tip is critical, but alas, my hubby always ALWAYS says, “Don’t worry, IT’S FINE.” Sigh…
