This past week I had the joy of driving the all new Toyota Corolla 2019, a prototype which is not going to hit the dealers until later this year!
Having Millennials in mind when developing this action packed vehicle, Toyota has for me, been able to compact all the new must-have features and designs at a price that will leave you wondering: why not jump on the opportunity to own one? As long as you keep an eye on the maintenance of it, for example, check out quality Toyota filters, have the oil changed when required, service the engine, etc. it’ll be running for years and years.
Here are all the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE features Millennials love and you will too:
Trendy and Stylish Lines, Love the new updated Grill, giving it a sportier look
Although the small car’s exterior lines follow the larger trend at the automaker for expressive looks, the hatchback doesn’t go overboard.
Its front grille isn’t overworked, and the rear and body sides don’t look lifted from anime. Its most expressive element may be available colors, a new sky blue is subtle like a neutron bomb, do you agree?
LED headlights for a sharper look
This year, Toyota molded the rear hatch out of a resin composite material that makes the rear door lighter and easier to lift open-especially with arms full of groceries or gear.
The doors and room in the front seat made it easier for me to get in and out on my daily workout trips!
Love the wheels
Standard 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, who doesn’t love that?
Hit it~
Check out this video I made with sound:
Safety Features Really Impressed Me
The 2019 Corolla Hatchback XSE is equipped with my favorite standard active safety features.
It includes forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, road sign detection, and automatic high beams. Because safety is everything!
Super Fun To Drive
Loved the pick up and hearing the engine roar!! Vroommm!
A new 2.0-liter inline-4 powers the Corolla with 168 horsepower, which is a dramatic improvement over the outgoing engine.
A 6-speed manual is standard or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is optional.
Both have tricks to help the Corolla feel sportier, which I loved!
Alexa Enabled
The prototype model I received did not allow me to fully experience the features you will get to enjoy if you own one, but when you get yours, here they are:
You will be able to remote start and turn it off using voice activation
Set temperature control also using voice activation
And so many other features!
Fuel Economy
The XSE’s larger wheels and slight curb weight places its fuel economy figures to the tune of 30/38/33 mpg with the CVT.
We drove for a whole week and still had 3/4 of the tank when the car was picked up! Very impressive!
What you should know:
Very narrow rear seat
You know my husband is 6’2″ and my son is 6’6″, so I sat in the back because there was not really a comfortable way for the three of us to ride together when I was driving.
Up front, driver and passenger ride in relative comfort with base cloth seats that feel durable in SE trim levels.
Upgrade to XSE and those cloth seats are replaced with power-adjustable, heated seats that look good.
But I felt a little cramped in the back, the door cutouts are smaller than I would like and rear seat leg room is directly dependent on how generous front passengers feel and my family of tall guys is not always generous with that.
The seats slide far enough to give tall legs plenty of room up front, but they cut deeply into rear-seat room.
The 8.0-inch center touchscreen dominates attention in the front dash, and the rest of the materials seem convincingly mid-grade – despite the car’s relatively low cost, another great thumbs up for me!
The 2019 Corolla Hatchback is available in sporty SE and XSE trims starting at about $21,000.
The Corolla Hatchback XSE trim level adds fog lights, 18-inch wheels, a 7.0-inch driver information display, leather-trimmed seats, power adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, blind-spot monitors, and satellite radio.
Navigation, wireless cellphone charging, and an eight-speaker audio system are optional extras you will want to add to your awesome choice!

Can’t wait to hear what your favorite features are!
