After my FIL’s funeral, his daughter handed me a bag with jewelry he had bought for me while sick in the hospital and intended to give me on Christmas. Looking at the last ring my father in law bought me and the fact that he took the time to have it sized online on his death bed, showed not only how deeply he cared for us, but that his love went beyond his lack of memory, his sickness and his condition. It’s not about the jewelry, it’s about his love for me, which will always be a memory encrusted in that diamond ring.
