After being invited to walk through the town and rediscover Philly, it opened my eyes to all the beauty in Philadelphia and created a much stronger connection for me. I will be sharing my experiences in a series of posts in the upcoming weeks! Yes, I will share why my heart beats stronger for Latin Philly!
Since I found out that Philadelphia is the sister city of my hometown Salvador (in Brazil), knowing that created a special bond – an immediate connection with the city. But the fact that I’m basically across the bridge and my busy schedule with endless trips, made this special city an eventual trip.
Today I want to give you the five main reasons why my heart beats stronger for the Latin Philly I came to explore a few weeks ago!
My Philly visit – the cobble stone roads, strong African influences, bubbling night life, that happiness that echoes like a beating drum, continuously calling to hear the sounds of the city, taste the flavor and enjoy all that Philly has to offer.
The city reminds me so much of South America and gives me that happy feeling of being home!
As promised, here are the five main reasons why my Latina heart beats stronger for Latin Philly:
The Restaurants
Walking through the streets of Philadelphia is a gastronomical feast. Every corner, every street offers a new option for any taste! The Peruvian Restaurant – Vista Peru is definitely a must visit. Offering the authentic aromas of Peruvian cuisine infused in a lively contemporary atmosphere.
The Colorful Cityscape
The azulejos in the Magic Gardens reminded me of Rio, where colorful mosaics lead you into a new journey to discover what the city has to offer.
Historical Sites
Elfreth’s Alley is just one among many historical landmarks which carry the strong significance Philly has to offer.
Looking at Center City is like driving towards a monument that represents the grandiosity of this city and its historical significance.
Many Nations
A fusion of cultural influences – The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is considered the American Champs-Elysees, the flags symbolize how welcoming Philadelphia is to new cultural aspects, which are embedded in the city’s own nature .
Art In Every Esquina
You don’t have to look far to understand how important art is to the city’s vibe! From the Museum of Art, to the Barnes Foundation and so many other locations, Philly is the place to be. So if you love the arts, you will have to come to Philadelphia to check it out.
I have so much more to share in the upcoming weeks! If you’re planning a visit to Philly, make sure to come back and check it out!
Philadelphia left this Latina wanting for more! I sat at the Warwick Hotel making plans to return soon!
