My son goes to a private school, so instead of a whole week off for Spring Break like many schools, he only has an extended weekend off! Just four days! Not enough to really travel anywhere. So this year, we decided to find things we can do at home and save to enjoy a longer vacation later in the summer! Ideally, we’d spend all day lounging in a backyard pool similar to those seen on pool kings, but right now we don’t have a pool, so maybe that’ll be one for next time!
We hope our ideas will inspire you to do some things at home as well, in case you don’t have any travel plans!
5 Spring Break Staycation Ideas
Movie Marathon
We have selected some Easter and Fun Movies to watch in our home theater with popcorn and other refreshments!
Here are some of the titles we selected:
Hop
Despicable Me 2
The Secret Life Of Pets
We also invited some of my son’s close friends, so they can hang out before our Movie Marathon!!
You can find amazing children’s movie selections at Best Buy!
Sing, which we downloaded using Fandango App! There’s so much we can do now, so many movies we have access to digitally!!
Right now there’s also a FREE SING LUNCHBOX deal you won’t want to miss!
Best Buy’s expanding their selection of kids and family movies online or in-store. Great gifts or fun for your family! Here is more:
From 3/26 – 4/15:
1) Get a free collectible @SingMovie lunchbox with purchase of a select movie @BestBuy.
2) Spend $25 on select movies, get a $5 Best Buy gift card.
Here are some other great ideas:
Make your own Pizza
You can have several different toppings like, pepperoni, sausage, ham, olives, peppers, and shredded mozzarella, tomato sauce and pre-made mini pizza dough, so we can enjoy making our own pizzas as a family!
If you plan to do it for lunch, you can replace the dough with english muffins for smaller portions!
Fun Dessert Buffet
My plan is to use two types of ice cream as a base and crush Easter candy, it’s great to re-purpose it, right? Place them in little containers as toppings, along with whipped cream.
We’re having it to balance a night with a very healthy meal!!!
Go For A Walk
We have a beautiful creek and trail behind our property, so we will take one morning and go for a walk on the trail and enjoy the beautiful Spring weather!
Picnic Time
I have a beautiful picnic basket and we haven’t used it in a long time! Our plan is to take an afternoon and have a picnic basket at one of our local parks and just enjoy it in a picnic area and walk around, afterwards!
Do you have any other ideas? Can’t wait to hear what you think, as usual, give us a Trendy Shout!

My kids were off a few weeks ago for spring break. It actually felt great because I wasn’t running the kids every where.
We watched Sing yesterday afternoon for the second time. It is an awesome movie.

I love staycations .. they’re my favorite. When I take one I always use it to catch up on me things. A massage, facial, new hair .. whatever makes me feel relaxed and pretty!
Melissa Dixon
I loved checking out these movies as well. I have watched The Secret Life of Pets a few times now and it still makes me giggle, I am a huge fan of Louis Ck so it was awesome to be able to share a movie of his with my daughter considering her isn’t typically family friendly.
Adaleta
These sound really fun! Who doesn’t love a movie marathon! Then add on a pizza bar and you are at the perfect day!

I can’t believe we still have one more week of school before spring break. I’m dying over here! Well, not literally. But it just seems like the days are dragging on. The good news about having such a late spring break is that I have lots of time to plan fun spring break ideas. Got to add these staycation ideas to our agenda.
Heather Lawrence
We are just rounding up our spring break now and I tell you staycations are the way to go.
It’s nice to get out but staying in your pajamas and watching tv for one whole day while you ignore the world is awesome!!
Shirley Wood
It sounds dreamy to me to just stay home for a week and watch movies! I’d like to close all the blinds and turn off all the lights and lay on the sofa for a week watching our favorite movies together. No cooking, just junk food!
Cathy
Such fun and great ideas! We love to put out snacks and play a bunch of board games, which is especially fun when I win. 😉
Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle
YES! We actually had an epic movie week for a staycation one year, and it was amazing. We watched SO many movies, and we lived off of pizza. I gained 10 pounds, and it was totally worth it!
