My son goes to a private school, so instead of a whole week off for Spring Break like many schools, he only has an extended weekend off! Just four days! Not enough to really travel anywhere. So this year, we decided to find things we can do at home and save to enjoy a longer vacation later in the summer! Ideally, we’d spend all day lounging in a backyard pool similar to those seen on pool kings, but right now we don’t have a pool, so maybe that’ll be one for next time!
We hope our ideas will inspire you to do some things at home as well, in case you don’t have any travel plans!

Movie Marathon

Make your own Pizza
You can have several different toppings like, pepperoni, sausage, ham, olives, peppers, and shredded mozzarella, tomato sauce and pre-made mini pizza dough, so we can enjoy making our own pizzas as a family!
If you plan to do it for lunch, you can replace the dough with english muffins for smaller portions!
Fun Dessert Buffet
My plan is to use two types of ice cream as a base and crush Easter candy, it’s great to re-purpose it, right? Place them in little containers as toppings, along with whipped cream.
We’re having it to balance a night with a very healthy meal!!!
Go For A Walk
We have a beautiful creek and trail behind our property, so we will take one morning and go for a walk on the trail and enjoy the beautiful Spring weather!
Picnic Time
I have a beautiful picnic basket and we haven’t used it in a long time! Our plan is to take an afternoon and have a picnic basket at one of our local parks and just enjoy it in a picnic area and walk around, afterwards!

I love this, we try and have fun and spend time with my grandsons, this looks like so much fun.
Our spring break was spent indoor due to the bad weather. We did a lot of movie nights and baking.
I think the movie marathon is an awesome idea! I heard SING was cute and the kiddies can sing along!
These are great ideas! My kids loved the movie sing but we can always watch it again through On Demand program.

My son heads back to school tomorrow after 9 days of spring break. We didn’t hit the road like we usually do, but we had a blast watching movies, reading, and hanging out the park. 🙂
My kids were off a few weeks ago for spring break. It actually felt great because I wasn’t running the kids every where.
We watched Sing yesterday afternoon for the second time. It is an awesome movie.
I love staycations .. they’re my favorite. When I take one I always use it to catch up on me things. A massage, facial, new hair .. whatever makes me feel relaxed and pretty!
I loved checking out these movies as well. I have watched The Secret Life of Pets a few times now and it still makes me giggle, I am a huge fan of Louis Ck so it was awesome to be able to share a movie of his with my daughter considering her isn’t typically family friendly.
These sound really fun! Who doesn’t love a movie marathon! Then add on a pizza bar and you are at the perfect day!
We love these ideas. There are so many great things about these. The kids and I make staycation plans so often that these will totally come in handy. Love the movie sing too!

We stayed in over spring break too. Well kind of…we went on a day trip, but the other days we stayed home.
My kids (and me too!) are counting down for our spring break! We love all of these movies, you can never go wrong with a movie marathon!

Sing was a fantastic movie. It is to bad your Son only gets 4 days off. I think a movie marathon is a great idea.

Love this! Sometimes it’s more fun and relaxing to just enjoy a staycation than try to plan a trip somewhere. I’m very happy with a movie marathon and lots of snacks!

I can’t believe we still have one more week of school before spring break. I’m dying over here! Well, not literally. But it just seems like the days are dragging on. The good news about having such a late spring break is that I have lots of time to plan fun spring break ideas. Got to add these staycation ideas to our agenda.
We are just rounding up our spring break now and I tell you staycations are the way to go.
It’s nice to get out but staying in your pajamas and watching tv for one whole day while you ignore the world is awesome!!
It sounds dreamy to me to just stay home for a week and watch movies! I’d like to close all the blinds and turn off all the lights and lay on the sofa for a week watching our favorite movies together. No cooking, just junk food!

YES! We actually had an epic movie week for a staycation one year, and it was amazing. We watched SO many movies, and we lived off of pizza. I gained 10 pounds, and it was totally worth it!
