Back To School is just around the corner for some of us and is already here for others. I know it’s a time when I am looking for new ways to save time and get things done, so today I wanted to share some of my best Back To School Kitchen Ideas with you!
Back-To-School Kitchen Ideas
Back To School Meal Prepping Hacks
Saving time starts with prepping!
I plan for the first Back To School week ahead of time, including dinner menu planning and back to school lunch ideas. This way my family doesn’t sacrifice on eating healthy in the midst of all the chaos and my teen son also has healthy high school lunch options as well.
Here is the back to school grocery list:
- 3 vegetables
- 3 meats, cut, seasoned and frozen for use when needed.
- Lasagna or Pot Pie made ahead of time and frozen for use ( I under bake a bit, so when I pre-heat in the oven, it won’t burn or look overcooked)
- Crock Pot All in One Meal for one night a week
- Friday is always pizza night at our house! Fun and easy to fit in a busy schedule! I just make sure we have mini salads to go with it.
I defrost the meats ahead of time; the potpie and lasagna, those go in the oven frozen. Cook vegetables and in 20 mins or less, I have a great healthy back to school meal my whole family will love!
Back To School Kitchen Organization
I don’t know about you, but the dishwasher is the heart of my kitchen! It helps me get organized an assures that I always have dishes at hand. So having the best brand is an important choice for me! I wanted to share with you how Bosch 100 Series from Best Buy helps me reach those goals:
- Fingerprint-resistant stainless steel helps guard against smudges and fingerprints and is easy to clean
- The Utility rack is the perfect place for hard to place items like that last whisk and opens up space on the upper rack for the rest of your dishes.
- Skip the Pre-Rinse with Bosch. All Bosch dishwashers have PrecisionWash™- an intelligent wash system with sensors that target every dish to leave them sparkling clean, every time.
Now that the dishes part is taken care of, let’s talk about Back To School Highschool Lunches!
My 6’6″ boy can eat everything I have in my fridge in a day, so I want to make sure he doesn’t go hungry at school!
Here are a few high school back to school lunches I make for him:
Chicken Caesar Burritos – super easy, prep and cook the chicken ahead, mix with caesar sauce, cheese and wrap half of a tortilla around it. I usually make 4 of those for him.
Loaded nachos – add nachos chips, cooked ground beef in different containers and cheese, make sure the lunch box will keep the meat warm, all he has to do is add cheese when it’s time to eat.
Chicken or Egg Salad – he loves that on a bed of lettuce or as a sandwich, so I make the chicken salad ahead and make it either way for a great and easy high school lunch option! You can place the option below in different containers to avoid the lettuce getting mushy and all your child has to do is combine them!
Mini sandwiches – I use cream cheese, cucumbers, cheese, ham and cheese, whatever your child likes, just use cream cheese as the base with the bread and cut them in 4 small pieces.
I always have chips with sea salt, veggie straws, cereal bars and 3-5 types of fruits like grapes, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, apples (my son’s favorites) and add those to each of the lunches above! Pronto! You have amazing back to school options which take less than 10 mins to prep!
Consider a breakfast Station
I usually set a breakfast station above one of the cabinets with oatmeal, cereal, granola, breakfast bars and bread to go with eggs. Having a great breakfast is so important! My son is old enough that he will just look and pick a favorite and it’s easy enough, he doesn’t even has to ask me to help!
All he has to do it place the dish or bowl in the dishwasher! Easy, right?
Ask your family to pitch in
We share the kitchen chores, my son does the trash removal, my husband takes care of dishes and I cook and clean the kitchen overall. Sometimes we all get together to do some deep cleaning as well, including cleaning the fridge and the exhaust, among other spaces. However, if everyone is too tired for intensive work, we can always call cleaners providing services similar to these Hood Cleaning Services in Houston, TX, and make our kitchen sparkle. For basic cleaning, on the other hand, when we all share the workload, there’s less time and less work involved for all!
I hope my back to school kitchen ideas helped you, whether you have a teen or not, be ready and have an easier back to school week!

I don’t have kids yet but I guess this can be applicable to me too. I want to try bringing my own food when going to the office as well.

I don’t remember the last time I had a pot pie. Will have to keep that in mind. My quick to make fall back sandwich for back to school is sun butter (my kids have peanut allergies) and strawberry jelly sandwiches
Shoshana Sue
I always avoid the egg salad for my kids because of the smell of the eggs when they have been in a lunch box for a few hours. I replace that with tuna or chicken. I love your other ideas other than that.
Jeanine
Great ideas! We ask our family to help out in the kitchen with everything! Now that school will be starting it will be necessary for everyone to pitch in!

You are so right meal planning make things so much easier. It is less time spent going through the drive thru.

Crock pot saves a lot of time. It’s easy to cook meals and it really helps when you plan the menu a week before so you can be more organized in the kitchen as well as having a guide while shopping.

What a beautiful kitchen. I love to use freezer meals and my slow cooker for weeknight meals. Life savers!

I want that dishwasher so bad. Mine is awful I need a new one and I love Bosch! Hopefully I can afford to get one soon. With the school you’re starting up there’s definitely more dishes.

These are some fabulous ideas! I do have my kids help with the cleaning. They are older and are quite capable. They also have started packing their own lunches. I just watch to make sure they don’t just leave with cookies 😉
