I was invited to attend the Ford Explorer event in Detroit, but as usual, all opinions are my own.
You know that winter and SUVs go hand in hand, right? That is one of the many reasons I was excited to attend the Ford Explorer launch in Detroit!
Ford Explorer Event In Detroit
First I wanted to share about my favorite features:
America’s best-selling SUV returns to its roots.
It now has:
- A new rear-wheel-drive architecture,
- New all-EcoBoost® gas engine lineup,
- a new 10-speed automatic transmission,
- an available Terrain Management SystemTM with seven drive modes,
- and a spacious and comfortable cabin.
The drive mode system, controlled by a rotary dial on the center console, lets drivers shift easily between Normal, Slippery, Trail, Deep Snow/Sand, Sport, Tow/Haul and Eco modes.
The all-new 2020 Explorer was designed with improved passenger comfort in mind. Sliding second-row seats make it easy to customize the cabin to your crew.
The 2020 Ford Explorer has:
- Best-in-class first- and second-row hip room
- Best-in-class second-row headroom
- Unsurpassed third-row headroom
If cargo is what you’re hauling, the all-new Explorer answers the bell. PowerFold® third-row seats make it easy to create a flat-floor cargo area
Explorer’s all-new rear-wheel-drive architecture contributes to it being a more-than-capable towing machine, regardless of engine. Vehicles equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost and the towing package can haul up to 5,600 pounds, while those outfitted with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost and a towing package can tow up to 5,300 pounds. When properly equipped, Explorer hybrid is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds
Here Are Some Event Highlights:

We’ve enjoyed a beautiful presentation about how the concept for the all new Ford Explorer came into place:
We’ve arrived in Detroit, still illuminated by the holiday lights!
I loved having a chance to exchange ideas and spend time with fellow journalists!
I loved hearing about their “We are also inviting all of you to share your vacation memories on social media using the hashtags #RoadTripRewind and #ExploreOurAmerica. We’ll pick a few of the best stories and the winners will get to take a road trip this summer in the all-new Explorer.”
I went down later to have an up close look at the vehicle and can’t wait to take it on a road trip!

You can never go wrong choosing a Ford. This 2020 Ford Explorer looks super cool. I like large SUVs and trucks for the roomy interiors they offer. I think this is the perfect family car for road trips!
