I didn’t want to finish this great time of year, where we celebrate the Hispanic Culture and Latinos in General, without sharing my Hispanic Heritage Month: Great Family Cars For Latinos List.
Hispanic Heritage Month: Great Family Cars For Latinos
Let’s start by talking about what makes the Hispanic/Latinos a special car buying segment!
Hispanic Auto Buyers
The U.S. Hispanic population reached 63.6 million in 2022, up from 50.5 million in 2010, according to Pew Research.
Did you know that Latinos represent roughly 19% of the US population but account for 24% of all car sales, according to Dealer Marketing Research.
According to Hispania Cultural Marketing, Hispanic Auto Buyers Represent:
*44 Billion New Vehicle Spend
*8% Growth
*49% Likely To Buy Luxury As First New Car
Researchers also say that Hispanic buyers will purchase 8% more vehicles over the next five years, while the general market will decline by -2%.
According to IHS Automotive’s Polk market data unit, “Hispanic buyers delivered 96% of Ford and Chevrolet’s combined year-over-year retail sales growth, 33% of Nissan’s, 35% of Toyota’s and 100% of Honda’s.”
71% of Hispanic buyers buy new vehicles vs 64% of the general market and Hispanic buyers are 49% more likely to purchase a luxury vehicle as their first new car than the general market.
Hispanics buy a new car every 3.4 years. Their median age is 13 years younger than the U.S. as a whole, so they may buy 3 more vehicles in their lives than their general market peers.
Autoproyecto adds that The Hispanic Community is one of the largest and fastest-growing demographics in the United States, and their impact on various industries, especially the automotive industry, can’t be ignored.
With a purchasing power of over $1.7 trillion, Hispanics are a significant market for the automotive industry, representing a great opportunity for growth and expansion.
I thought it was important for us to understand the data, since you are already familiar with language, culture and lifestyle here on the blog, right?
But let’s go to my list, which is compiled by some of my favorites and Hispanic Car Buyers in the US as well.
Great Family Cars For Latinos
I have included in my list different sizes, not just Cars, but also SUVs, Trucks and Luxury categories to share a wide variety of vehicles Hispanics/Latinos drive, trust their family with and purchase.
I’ve also taken in consideration my personal preference after driving some of these vehicles and brands:
Toyota
I’ve chosen the RAV4 and the Corolla Cross:
You can read more about one of the RAV4 vehicles I’ve experienced HERE.
Check out my Trip to the Outer Banks driving the Corolla Cross HERE.
Hyundai
The Santa Fe & The Tucson were my choices:

TRUCKS
Check out my my list:
Toyota

You can read my hiking and road tripping with the Ford Maverick earlier this Spring HERE.
We had the Ford F-150 a few years ago and our family & friends loved the space and the cargo! Check it out HERE.
Chevrolet
Chevy Silverado
I have a Chevrolet Silverado coming up. Since it has been on my radar for a while, I wanted to give you a sneak peak and add that to my coming attractions for you to be on the lookout:
You can read more about the Silverado HERE and stay tuned for my own experience driving it soon!
Luxury
Lexus
Data shows that 49% of Hispanics are likely To Buy Luxury As A First New Car.
So I’ve added my recent experience in Austin with the Lexus TX, the perfect third row option at a price point that will excite & to invite you to call your familia and hit the road or make it your daily drive!
You can read all my trip last week to experience Austin and the 2024 Lexus TX HERE.
A few things to consider:
Research mentioned Subaru, Honda, Genesis and Kia as brands that Hispanic/Latinos also love , but I haven’t driven any of these vehicles recently so I decided not to include them here on this list. If you’d like to see some of these vehicles I’ve driven in the past, please do a search on the blog to see if I’ve reviewed them.
Data from research done at the end of 2022, also shows that Hispanics/Latinos were not ready for EVs or Plug in Hybrids but are slowly starting to look for Hybrid vehicles, therefore I didn’t include that segment on my list.
I will update you all on that, once I am able to read more on that segment.
I can’t wait to hear what you think of my Hispanic Heritage Month: Great Family Cars For Latinos.

The statistics speak volumes about the significant influence of the Hispanic community on the automotive industry. With a rapidly growing population and substantial purchasing power exceeding $1.7 trillion, it’s clear that Hispanics are a driving force in car sales. The fact that they represent 24% of all car sales, despite comprising only 19% of the U.S. population, underscores their prominence. Their inclination toward luxury vehicles and shorter purchase cycles makes them a dynamic market segment with immense potential for growth and expansion. The automotive industry should undoubtedly keep a keen eye on this influential demographic
Joline

Melissa Dixon Dixon
I love learning about why people make the choices they make and I had no idea that Hispanic auto buyers are 49% more likely to buy luxury as their first new car. That is really interesting to me. Personally, I think it is smart to buy a luxury car when buying a new car because when you buy a new one you should hang on to that car for as long as possible so why not make it one you will love forever? Great info, thanks for sharing!
