I have a great love for fishing! It started back when I was around 12. I had gone to a friend’s house to play for the afternoon. Yep, that’s right, it wasn’t a “hang out” or a “play date”, we just went to play with our friends back then. Anyway, my friend’s mom told me that my friend was down at the lake behind their house and was fishing. I arrived just in time to watch him pull a 2 pound large-mouth bass from the water! That’s all it took … I was hooked!
My family traveled all over this continent when I was younger and I fished almost every place we went. But my favorite place to fish was in Banff National Park in Alberta Canada, where I caught a beautiful 3+ pound Kamloop trout.
I’ve shared my love of fishing with both of my sons and they too enjoy fishing. They love it that much that they’ve even decided to broaden their horizons into the many other types of fishing that are out there. One of my sons came across something like this Casual Carper fishing blog and has got a new-found interest in carp fishing, so hopefully, we can organize a trip to do this at some point in the near future. I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it’s become harder to get the time to go fishing as the years have gone by. So I’ve found that I need to make the time to go fishing each year, or it just never happens!
Something unusual happened this year though, which helped me to decide to make some time for fishing – I received a box on my doorstep from FishingGiftBox.com.
And what to my wondering eyes should appear? Check it out:
Part of the fun I find in fishing, is figuring out just what the fish are interested in biting on that day. So I’m always happy to have a great assortment of lures to help with the solution! So thank you goes out to FishingGiftBox.com. 🙂
And was my fishing trip successful you might ask? Well take a look a the pictures to see!
I was lucky and managed to catch 2 chain pickerel and 1 large-mouth bass – all of which I released back into the lake. My son and his friend were fishing in his friend’s boat and also had a great time fishing. Check out my wife’s post to see how they made out.
Here’s to hoping you always have (or make) the time to do all of the things you enjoy!
