I recently heard from some friends: well, you spend a fortune at the grocery store and you get all those cool gadgets and yoga gear which are great tools and make your life a lot easier on the road to living a healthier lifestyle.
I’m here to tell them and you, if you’re thinking the same, that you’re wrong!
Today I will share a few ways to help you get fit on a budget like a boss!
How To Get Fit On A budget
Save on Produce
If you go to stores like Wegmans, Whole Foods and Target for produce, you will face a huge bill at the end of the month. So going to places like Aldi, Walmart and even Shoprite if you have them in your area are great options!
You will need to go through produce and find items which not only look good, but are fresh and pay just a fraction of what other stores charge!
Meal Planning
Another tip to save on produce is meal planning, because when you know what you’re going to make Mo-Fri, you will go shopping planning on just buying produce for those days.
Why am I talking about produce so much? Because living a healthy life starts with replacing cans and boxes for fresh vegetables and fruits!
Here are some additional tips!
I actually look for salad recipes, every weekend, so I don’t get tired of them and start going down the wrong path. I add strawberries, nuts, low fat cheeses and olives. All delicious additions to keep you on track.
Great Sound For Less
Having the right jam is the first step to keeping your fitness resolutions, because when you have great music pumping into your ears, it’s hard to feel tired or give up!
I’m not going to lie to you…..I have 5 pairs of headphones, but just two which are bluetooth with noise cancellation. One comes with a steep price tag, the other is brand new and was sent to me for review last month, it’s the Sbode Bluetooth Headphones. I’m going to confess, the price tag is amazing, just $29.00 and the sound won’t leave you wishing you got something else.
I really love that it is Siri Activated Wireless Sports Earphones w/ Mic IPX7 Waterproof HD Stereo, Sweatproof Earbuds for Gym Running Workout with 8 Hour Battery and it’s also a Noise Cancelling headset.
It came with different ear pieces, which is a must for me, since I have small ears and it fits perfectly, not falling, nor being uncomfortable!
You can grab yours HERE.
Let’s talk trackers
I have 7 trackers, you can read my full review HERE. Somehow I’ve found myself with ALL of my trackers running out of battery and the only one I can recharge, I’m afraid to take it out and lose. So here is a great solution if you don’t have a budget to invest on a tracker: use your phone! I know you have a smart phone, any brand has a steps app built in or you can download a free fitness app like:
My Fitness Pal
Health
That will help you track and celebrate your progress and not spend a dime while doing it!
Outfits
I love these pants from DmodaSportwear. They are made in Colombia and make you look amazing, even if you don’t feel like you’re there yet!
You can check them out at the link above and use the code Trendy$12 to help you save and look amazing while doing it!
Again, I do have a variety of workout clothes, some of which I keep separate for yoga. You don’t have to do that, though! Grab an old sweatshirt or shirt, a comfortable and well-fitting bra, and some sweatpants or yoga pants of any brand-you can find both for less than $10-if you run or work out at home. Besides, whether you are planning to hit the gym or not, do not forget to buy a good pair of sports shoes using SportsShoes Discount Codes to prevent your legs from getting injured due to an intense workout. You’re set!
Also, if you go to the gym, you can look for clearance items, because workout clothes can be worn all year long! I bought some Under Armour pants for just $12.00 on Black Friday!
Same goes for sneakers! Head to the outlets, grab that last season perfect pair of brand name sneakers for less than $ 30.00! After all, who’s going to be checking your feet to find out if you’re wearing this season’s model anyway? Right?
Ditch The Gym
You heard me, girlfriend!
I made peace with the fact that my schedule is hectic and I’m happy to live that way! So going to a gym is not in my plans any time soon! I have a full gym at home, I bought a couple programs to use and change every week and I do Yoga almost every week! Once my busy schedule is over, I may try playing golf (check Golfing Revolution for golf tips) or cricket maybe. Anyway, as of now, this is the best I can do to keep myself fit.
So, even if you don’t have a gym at home, you can share a space in a closet and buy a couple weights, a mat and you’re set. Although remember, when you work out by yourself, you may push yourself harder than you should. So be mindful of the way you feel as you exercise for about 30 minutes, and don’t stretch yourself too thin. There is such a thing as working out too much! If you feel the aches and pains coming along after an intense workout session, try some cbd for pain relief; they can not only help relieve the pain but also help you relax after a good session. Other than that, you’re free to workout as you please! Go ahead and do what you love, whether it’s movement-filled zumba or a calming yoga practice. There are so many videos online and they are …, yes, they are FREE!
I shared my at home gym work-out a few months ago, you can check it out HERE, you can also check a program I really love and use it almost every week HERE.
I also love:
I hope my tips will help you get started, there is one program which helped me lose 14 pounds and stay on track, that it’s totally worth the investment, but I will share that on an upcoming post!
Can’t wait to hear what you think, as usual, give us a Trendy Shout!

These are such great tips! I find that I do so much better with a realistic plan like working out at home instead of trying to make myself go to the gym when it doesn’t fit in my schedule.

People always say eat healthy is expensive. I believe if people shopped at more farmers market they would see that they save more!

I love the tips that you shared. Shopping for produce in the right places definitely helps you stay on your budget. Meal planning is something that I’ve been learning since I started focusing on my health.

You really don’t need to invest a lot, other than time, to get fit. My tip for workout clothes is wait for Plato’s Closet (if you have one nearby) to mark all of their clearance at 90% off. I just bought 7 workout shirts (name brand!) for less than $1 each.

Lots of great info on a budget! I prefer to always go the inexpensive but tend to splurge on the workout gear. Will check you recommendations out.

These are all great ideas. My husband and I don’t go to a gym. We stay home and workout. It’s easy to find something to do around the house that is a workout. We have an exercise area in our basement too, so we have a few items down there we use for exercise.
Dawn Lopez
These were some great tips that I will definitely be using! I think I could save a lot of money by meal planning.

I agree supermarkets can get pricey for product so I normally hit the farmers markets which tend to be more affordable! Great ways to save money!
Jeanine
Yes! I will need all these tips in April once baby arrives! They all sound great and I’m looking forward to getting back to being fit!

I am not a fan of gym memberships. I don’t like people looking at me when I exercise. Me and my husband invested in home gym equipment a few years back and that is where I get my exercise, although I prefer walking around the neighborhood more than walking on a treadmill.
Liz Mays
Staying on track with a good fitness app sounds helpful. I definitely think it’s worth it to pick out some comfy sports gear too!
Melissa Chapman
Gym memberships are a little pricey but I find this better than not working out. We shop at Shop Rite and our produce is generally good and prices reasonable. My husband runs outside for free so we are pretty economical too.
Danielle Smith
Getting fit shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg! I love your suggestions, especially with home equipment. Great long term investments!
Donna B
Yes! I tell people all the time that while I love my gym membership, it’s not a requirement. You can spend less on a home gym and still get in a fantastic workout if you get creative. (And you don’t have to factor in travel time!)
Bianca Dottin
This is such an awesome post! I know if I were to get into fitness, I’d rather do it at home. It would cut down on packing a gym bag, driving there, and hopefully someone’s not using the machines or stations you’re wanting to use.
Bill Sweeney
With some gym memberships being so expensive, I find this post to be of great value. Purchasing some home gym equipment and be all set can save you money in the long run.
Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle
I absolutely love this! Getting fit can be really expensive. From good food to workout gear, it all adds up. Thanks for this!
