Phonetic Eyewear recently sent me a pair of computer glasses to try. I’m always working on the computer and quite often, my eyes become tired and sore. As a former tech person for the government and now a self employed SEO/webdesigner, I’m quite familiar with sitting in front of a computer screen (or two) for most of the day.
Sometimes at night when I finally get off of the computer, my eyes will feel like there are needles in them and I can’t wait to go to bed and get some rest for them! So I was anxious to try the Phonetic Eyewear to see how my eyes would feel after using them while working on the computer.
To my surprise, my eyes weren’t stressed and strained like they normally are. This made me curious so I read through their documentation to see what they did to help lessen the strain my eyes normally have while working on the PC. Here’s what I found:
- Phonetic uses innovative blue light filtering technology which reduces digital eyestrain.
- Computer screens, smartphones and tablets emit lots of violet blue spectrum light – called blue light or High Energy Visible (HEV) light.
- HEV light can cause eyestrain, headaches and fatigue.
- Phonetic Eyewear has specially coated lenses which filter out over 30% of the HEV light.
I kind of liken it to wearing sunglasses – which protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays – only these are for the computer! (And of course they aren’t dark like sunglasses.)
The process of getting the Eyewear was also very easy. I just measured how far away from the computer screen i normally sit and measured the distance between my eyes – you can use a mirror and a ruler! It’s all explained in simple instructions on their website. If you have a prescription for reading glasses, they’ll even include that in the Eyewear! You might want to click this link now to learn more about how and what you should choose your in your eyewear – be it reading or prescription glasses!
Nonetheless, the hardest thing about getting the Phonetic Eyewear was choosing which of the styles I liked. They have lots of nice modern and stylish frames from which you can choose! I chose the “Rodger” model as the color and size of the frames appealed to me the most.
They Eyewear comes with a soft neoprene case to store the Eyewear in and also has a large soft microfiber cloth for cleaning the lens. They recommend using water or a lens cleaning spray for cleaning and tell you to stay away from cleaners with harsh chemicals / solutions.
There is a 90 day warranty that comes with the Eyewear which covers defects in materials and workmanship. They will repair the product at no charge or provide a new or re-manufactured replacement product of equal or greater value! So no need to worry if there is something that you need to get fixed.
